Will it work?** A: This is a NAS computer case, the only difference from a “normal” computer case is that it includes 4x3.5” removable drive bays with a backplane that the drives plug into. This of a “dumb” backplane that only passes through SATA and power to the drives, there are no logic chips for RAID or anything. So yes, the drives will need to be plugged into a motherboard or RAID card. The case supports motherboards in the ITX form factor. **Q: Does the backplane support SAS drives if the cables are replaced with SAS cables?** A: The backplane has no logic hardware, just traces for data and power. I put in a flex power supply, mini itx motherboard with 8 cores, ram, drives, and it is a godsend. Finally 10 Tb of storage in one easy to access case. I just love it, I should have done this long ago. It has lights for power, individual drive light activity as well as individual drive power lights, and several other lights for network activity in general. Very sturdy. It looks sharp in my cabinet and cable management was a breeze. Great price too for what you get! Building your own nas gives you way faster speeds and much more power than buying a prebuilt one.
