Although they look similar to other disk batteries the internal chemistry is very different. These batteries are designed to supply low power demands but can be recharged by a small solar cell for a minimum of ten years. They can last much longer in regular use, i.e. kept charged. If used to replace a Casio watch battery, it will may take a few hours or days of exposure to full sunlight to bring the battery up to a full charge on the watch indicator, if fitted. This is perfectly normal and not a sign of a faulty battery. Once fully charged the battery will run a solar powered watch for around 9 months, or up to 2 years in power saving mode without further exposure to light. Of course, the battery can be recharged even if it does run flat. These batteries have a very exotic chemistry which is reflected in the price.
