Review: Great books - These books are wonderful for teaching kids the little powers that lie in our actions and words. 10/10 would buy again. Review: Amazing but long - These books are so amazing but a little long for my four year old. She gets a little frustrated because they go on a bit. I love them so much because I love the message. I think they will be better for her when she is five and has a higher attention span;)

Great lessons for children
This is a good set of books to have around for children of all ages. They teach very valuable life lessons and offer a chance to reflect and think about what you are learning in each story. These books come in a nice sturdy cardboard case to keep them well protected. They are pretty easy to slide into the case. I am overly picky about the way things look sometimes, so it bothers me a little bit that in order to store the books so that the spine doesn't read upside down, you have to put them in there backwards This doesn't harm the quality of anything, so I am not taking a star off for it, but if things like that drive you crazy as well, be prepared. These are not short, quick read books, as I was expecting. They go into lots of scenarios about each "superpower" and give many real life examples. I really like that the books ask several questions throughout for the children to reflect on what they are reading. This may quickly appear to be a book for 6 and older, but don't underestimate the kids. I have gotten some pretty good and thoughtful responses from the 3-year-old even. Even if they can't answer all of the questions, I feel like these stories are valuable for all ages. Depending on your child's attention span for books, it may not be one that will be read in one sitting, but they can still enjoy them. The books are filled with lots of bright colors and eye-catching pictures. They do a great job of having a pretty diverse collection of characters as well. I really like that each book uses the same characters. Each book will focus on two characters and their superpower, but you will notice the other characters throughout as well. My little ones love pointing out when they see somebody they just read about in the other book. In addition to good stories with many life examples, lots of pictures and lots of thought provoking questions, each book offers additional activities at the end. They give you several different activities that you can do with your child/children and additional questions to ask them. They also give a list of further resources you can use to continue developing each superpower. I think that this is a great set of books to have at home or in the classroom and I would highly recommend them to others. I think it is very important to help children to be aware of their actions, behaviors and mindset, and these books are very good at discussing all of these things. All of these concepts can be used in daily life and I feel like the lessons are all very valuable.

Good quality info, but Confidence should be called Bravery instead
This is a set of 4 books, written by 4 different authors, but illustrated by the same person. The main characters are different in each book, but they do use the same set of characters to add continuity, which I really enjoyed. Each book has storied examples that run 2-4 pages with a couple of thinking questions, followed by a note to parents/educators/caregivers that gives an overview of the skill and why it's important. At the end, there are 7 activities that can be done with kids to help them learn the skill and a page of resources. Gratitude talks about noticing the good things (and people!) around us and being thankful. It talks about making sure to tell the person thank you, whether it's for just hanging out and being together or for something kind they did. Empathy not only teaches about taking the time to think of how other people feel but to do something about it and how it feels good to help others. Mindfulness is about clearing out "messy thoughts" when our brain feels cluttered by focusing on what is going on around us. It tells us we need to deal with our emotions in healthy ways and not just push them down inside. It helps us focus on the moment to clear out negative thoughts and be more peaceful and focused. It teaches how to calm down and "self-soothe." Confidence is a bit harder to understand, as I feel that they meant brave more than they meant confident. It talked a lot about trying new things and being confident even when you made mistakes. I do feel that one should be brave and try again to get better, but being confident when you just spilled water on the floor instead of the dog dish just doesn't sound right to me. It's not a bad book, but I'd change a lot of the wording to talk about being brave if I were to use it with young kids. It does talk about being confident when you know something and raising your hand to share it. But then it also talks about "well, classmate knows and is raising their hand so I should too because I might know." I really enjoyed looking at the books and am hoping that they could help me with the kids I interact with. I was a bit surprised that I enjoyed the mindfulness one while the confidence one just frustrated me.

Awesome topics for teaching your littles
This 4 book box set is awesome for teaching your littles about emotional topics of confidence, empathy, gratitude, and mindfulness. I got these books for a 4 year old and I will still read them to him, but I think they will make more sense for him in a year or two. The listing says for ages 5-7 and I think that’s more accurate based on the larger words and questions the books asks. That doesn’t mean they won’t be good for a 4 year old as it’s never too young to start easing into these topics, you will just have better conversations as their mind grows and they are able to communicate better. These books are great and the author does an awesome job going into depth about each topic without doing it in a way that looses the attention of the kids. I read it to some of younger cousins and they paid attention throughout all of the books. I think the paid attention because the author is smart to write the book in a way that tells a story (super powers), but also puts in questions along the way so you can not only be reading a book but also having meaningful conversation about what you’re reading to see if they are comprehending. It’s not just a teaching book but also tells a story as well. I also love that these books are full of diversity and show all types of people, ethnicities, lifestyles, and cultures. It’s important to show that to young kids, especially if they live in an area where they might not be a lot of diversity. Once your done and if you have time, there are also additional activities to do with your child that pertain to each topic as well.

Superpowers that make healthy adults
These books are written well. Each superpower book flows so it teaches about the superpower first. Then there are some basic questions to reflect on. Finally, you can see how the “super power" looks in real life and how to practice. But the questions for discussion and deeper digging are throughout the book. The four super powers include gratitude, mindfulness, confidence, and empathy. While they are all great super powers, I think, depending on the child, the parent knows which ones may be superpowers that could be worked on. Gratitude and empathy are something that our family focuses a lot on. So I have to say that those are probably my two favorites. However, I think we can all benefit from mindfulness and I can find value in that one. Finally there is the confidence superpower. Many children are navigating growing up and the confidence building book is invaluable. This set of four is a very nice collection. These simple things like gratitude and empathy truly make good human beings. The more we share with our children and help them gain a deeper understanding, the more productive, and helpful they will be as adults. I am quite pleased with this collection. I think it can be used at home, in therapy or in the classroom. There is ample practice and reflection provided in each book.

Cute but long
Overall these are cute and a great idea. However they are really long to use as a read aloud in my classroom. There are also a lot of words on the page, so I cannot just have my students (first graders) read them on their own as part of my classroom library. Great messages though.

Adorable book set!
Really enjoyed reading these books to my 5 year old granddaughter. It’s a 4 book set that are paperback but come in a nice sturdy storage box. I feel the books are age appropriate for her and help reinforce social skills especially since she’s in her first year of kindergarten. Not only are these storybooks but they also have questions throughout the story to ask your child to help them relate to the characters in the book. After the story there’s a section in the back with tips and activities to do with your child. While we did get through reading the books we didn’t get through all the activities they suggest doing because there are quite a few of them in the 4 books. While this book set may seem a little pricey I do think the quality and content makes them worth the price!
