This may be the older model but it’s SO MUCH BETTER! After smashing my 15 year old Salter Timer one too many times my hubby spent £20 on the posh black newest model and I’ve hated since day one! Too loud, hard to programme, doesn’t always start etc. This one - 1/2 the price and although not as good as the original - much better than the other! Easy to push buttons - I have issues with my hands - more compact, sticks out less as it’s not solid black and isn’t as loud as a fog horn even on quiet mode! Perfect!

Good medium- small size and it is magnetic making it easier to attach to your kitchen fridge to assist you when cooking. Set up is simple and straight forward and is easy to use even to those who have never used a timer before. Alarm ring is loud enough for you to hear even when you are not in the kitchen, making it ideal to have for people who are hard of hearing. Battery life last for a long time and buttons and digital numbers are large and clear enough for use to see and read and appearance is great as well.

I suggest looking for something better. I bought this to replace an aged but good Acctim kitchen timer. This one does the job but it's cheap and cheerless compared to what it's replacing despite very similar functionality. My old one used a single AAA battery which lasted for years and years. The button battery in this timer lasted only 6 months. The battery is awkward to replace - needing a small crosspoint screwdriver to get access. At least I had the foresight to buy a pack of LR44 batteries in advance. The build qualty of this timer is dissapointing and especially so with a Salter badge. Update November 2025 My wife gets increasingly annoyed at how tempremental this timer is. Buttons are erratic & it sometimes stops counting down. Its such a flimsy article. So I'v downgraded it from 3 stars to one star. So I decided to resurect the old timer we'd happily used for 20+ years. I dismantled it, cleaned it up & On reassembly its working happily again as described earlier

Nice large easy to read display and very easy to set. It holds well to the fridgerator via the magnetic pads. Good value for money at £7.50. Only one negative aspect: beep is on the quiet side. This is fine if you are young with good hearing, but if you are older with less sensitive hearing then this will probably be disappointing.

Really disappointed with this timer, I thought because it was by Salter it would be good but for a start it only doe’s minutes so if you want to time anything over an hour you have to work out how many minutes so instead of 1 hour 30 minutes you have to put in 90mins and it takes ages to go through every minute to get there. So only minutes and seconds and only up to 99 minutes. No good if you want to time a piece of meat which takes 2 hours.

4 buttons. Add minutes, add hours, reset and start. Couldn't be simpler. It's self standing, so you can take it with you to any rooms and stand it where you can see it. It's is also magnetic so you can stick it to the fridge when not in use or when you're staying in the kitchen. Bought it when moving into a new house which has a cooker but no timer (unlike my old one). Arrived next day. Perfect. On the down side, it is only a cheap, plastic, battery operated gizmo. It's not delicate but don't expect it to survive poor or careless treatment.

Frustrating. There are two versions of this timer, the first was extremely good, and the later one poor. They look similar from the front, but the original version has just one magnet at the back. This seemed to be the only issue with this version, as it didn't stick to a fridge etc very well and it tipped if you tried to press a button. But when free standing I have found them flawless, buttons operate properly every time, loud beep, does everything you need, and I have used them extensively for cooking commercially. So when I ordered some more recently it was very frustrating to find they had changed, though initially it looked for the better. The improvement is that they now have four magnets at the back, one at each corner, and so they stick much better to a metal surface, and pressing the buttons becomes possible when mounted like this. But the two downsides are that a) the beep is not so loud, which is minor for me but perhaps not for others, and b) the big one, which is that the buttons no longer operate correctly every time, but very, very often either fail to register, or register a double press. This unfortunately renders them really frustrating to use, to the point where I no longer want to use them at all. Salter have unfortunately turned a really good timer into a poor one. If they could fix the button problem, then they would go back to being brilliant.

Kartoffel-Kochen etc.: Bei vielen Tätigkeiten im Haushalt und vor allem beim Kochen und Backen ist Frau/Mann darauf angewiesen, eine bestimmte Zeit (genau) einzuhalten. Hierbei ist die „SALTER Contour elektronische Küchenuhr ein wertvoller und unentbehrlicher Helfer. Die Küchenuhr wurde sehr schnell und gut verpackt (inclusive Batterie) geliefert und ist kinderleicht zu bedienen: Man stellt die gewünschte Zeit in Minuten und (falls erforderlich) Sekunden ein, drückt auf den Start Botton und schon läuft die Zeit rückwärts, bis sich der akustische Alarm (falls man nicht die Stopp-Taste betätigt) für eine Minute lang bemerkbar macht. Betätigt man dann den Reset-Knopf, zeigt die Anzeige wieder 00.00. Man kann die „SALTER Contour elektronische Küchenuhr“ aber auch als Zeitmesser benutzen, wenn man z.B. genau wissen muss, wann der Braten in den Ofen muss: Hierfür startet man bei der Null-Anzeige, drückt des Startknopf, die Uhr beginnt (rückwärts) zu zählen und zeigt den genauen Zeitpunkt bis 99:59 Uhr an und fängt danach wieder bei 00:01 von neuem an zu zählen. Man kann die „SALTER Contour elektronische Küchenuhr“ sowohl mittels vier eingebauter Magneten auf einem metallischen Untergrund befestigen. Will man jedoch die auf der Rückseite angebrachte Stand-Vorrichtung nutzen, klappt man diese (vorsichtig) aus und die Küchenuhr hat einen festen Stand. Da die entsprechenden Teile aus relativ dünnem Kunststoff gefertigt sind, würde ich hier aber zur Vorsicht raten, will man diese Befestigung nicht gleich beschädigen. Nach mehreren Tests, finde ich persönlich, ist die „SALTER Contour elektronische Küchenuhr“ ein sehr gut verarbeitetes und zweckmäßiges Hilfsmittel, im schicken Metall-Design, das fast in jede Küche passt ist, und sehr oft zum Einsatz kommen wird bei den vielen in Küche und Haushalt anfallenden, auf den Zeitpunkt genauen Arbeiten. Und da, meiner Meinung nach der Amazon-Preis z.Zt. sehr günstig ist, kann ich diesen stabilen Küchentimer im Metallgehäuse, gerne empfehlen, denn die Uhr geht auf die Sekunde genau.
