Will this work with an iphone usb camera adapter without external power?

With Apples lightning to camera adapter, it wont work "accessory requires too much power" Search on here for the IVSHOWCO USB Camera Adapter for iPhone, which will allow it to work. I got aptx adaptive working with that adapter.

NO. It stays in HFP mode and all audio sounds terrible. Do not buy this for the PS5.

Can this be plugged into a dac like the btr5 to add aptx adaptive as a codec option?

I have not plugged this into a Dac, however your computer views it as a USB audio device. So as long as your DAC supports USB audio I can't see any reasons it would not work. No software is needed. If you have a Sennheiser headset this is certainly the best one, however if you do not, it may be best to pick a different one.
