Rust-Oleum 400ml Metallic Spray Paint - Elegant Gold

I've been after a champagne gold spray paint for a while and all the others have been more orange gold than what I was looking for. This is the perfect gold paint needed for my wedding items.

Beautiful shimmery gold. I sprayed a large stone buddha and plinth, smaller stone ornament and a moon wall plaque. The can did two or three coats on each with 30 minutes left in between for drying. 24 hours later it feels durable, didn't chip or mark when moving and looks stunning. The can is easy to shake, I timed it to make sure it was mixed. The upside down blast kept the nozzle clear until it emptied. Very impressed, would buy again.

Not exactly shiny metallic chrome, far more like Satin silver or satin nickel but still a lovely colour and actually preferable for my needs. Made all my brass fittings look much more modern. Very easy to use. Just make sure you wipe down the items you will be spraying first, as you don't want dust on your item as those bits. This worked perfect straight on brass with no need for a primer (for me at least). Did it 3 times every 15 minutes over an hour just a quick spray each time, and then left overnight, and did one last time, waited 24 hours and perfect. A little colour came off in my hands first time I used, but then I worked out that if you use a wet paper towel just once (after a 24 hour wait) to give a one last wipe before using, colour does not come off at all anymore. Give it a go if you wish to change some items, great product and fun to see my items change. This lasted me fine for 10 door handles (put the items close to each other on a cardboard box and do them all together) and still have a little more in the can. great stuff, we used this over black to make some flexi pipe blend in with our antique brass bathroom fittings. worked perfectly and pretty easy to use too

I bought this on the strength of how good this makers ‘Gold’ version is, which I purchased after reading the superb reviews on it, and it is a great product. Until deciding to give the ‘Chrome’ a try I have used a car spray paint which is sold as Aluminium, I have used that product for at least 10 years and it is superb. To try and produce a genuine ‘Chrome’ spray is a tall order and this product does not get there. In my view it is only about 10% more ‘Chrome’ than the Aluminium I use. It is still an excellent product with a great finish and good coverage and the spray nozzle as with the Gold version is quite good but I do find it discharges a bit too quickly for spraying small items and ‘floods’ the surface a bit but that maybe necessary due to the metallic content, the car versions are more controllable. I think labelling it as Chrome is not really that accurate.

Paint is durable and looks good. Although, the nozzle blocks up very quickly. After about 20 seconds of spraying it was blocked. I had to go looking for another nozzle to use..

The item was delivered in just over a week and was very well packaged in a slim cardboard box that prevented it from rattling around inside. The can itself felt very heavy and full so you clearly get a lot of product for your money. The instructions on the side of the car are very clear, it tells you to use a primer for some types of materials for example wood and metals. I was too eager to try this out so I went straight in on a black metal jewellery stand with no primer. I followed the instructions to use this in a well ventilated area by using it in my back garden and covered the floor with newspaper to prevent staining of the patio. I used the side to side sweeping motion to cover the whole item on the front and back and found this to be effective in covering it sufficiently. Overall I applied two coats. I was worried without a primer it would end up rubbing off however it has stayed on with no problems at all! It doesn't feel like it's lost a lot of volume either, despite me doing two coats front and back. After the jewellery stand I decided to try it on a plastic photo frame. Again I used no primer and this time it didn't do so well, the paint began to pool together instead of providing even coverage. I can't fault the product for doing this because it does state in the instructions primers may be needed. I am very happy with the colour of the product, it is a vibrant copper much like rose gold. Unfortunately I couldn't find this colour in my local shop so I was happy to find it online. Well worth the money.

Good coverage. Not as shiny as the gold version but still good.
