The lid comes off the you can easily access everything you need to clean eith hot soapy water. Easy **Q: how do I remove the mesh for cleaning?** A: Just pull gently upward and it should come away. Highly recommended for cleaning. Although I had put mine in the dishwasher before, I noticed that the tea was only filtering slowly after about a year. I removed filter and found some old tea leaves had got stuck below the filter! Yak, yak. I the soaked everything in soda crystals and boiling water, scrubbed filer with nail brush, rinsed well and now it all looks and works like brand new! **Q: Is there any difference to a normal teapot?** A: This is very different to a normal tea pot, but does the same job. It allows you to brew a single cup, and if you want you can to top it up after you have poured the first cup. You can see how well it has infused because of the clear casing, so you can have you mix as strong or weak as you want, and when you want to pour it you simply place the infuser on your cup and it dispenses the tea through the base directly into your cup. No spills and no mess. We have a couple of these and many regular tea pots, but use this in preference for green teas and when making single cups. **Q: Can you use it with any cup? I.e. can u place a nice china cup under the tea pot? I dont fancy tea with milk in a transparent cup!** A: It will sit fine on cups with an outer diameter of up to 95mm so fine for normal cups but a bit too small for wider coffee cups. As has been said by others, if you plan to use cups you can't see through then this means you can't see it pour. If only making one cup this is easily overcome by pouring the water into cup first then pouring that measured amount into the infuser.
