How well does this work on bass?

Probably brilliant. But it's all down to personal tone and preference. Give it a go? Personally I think the TC Electronic Helix Phaser will work better, and as brilliant as this pedal is, it's been beaten in my opinion by the TC . Hope this helps

What guitar lead do I need to connect this please?

A regular guitar lead from the guitar to the in socket, then another from the out to the amplifier.

How do vocalists find this looper? Or are there more suitable ones (that aren't too pricey)?

This isn't a looper... It's a phaser effect pedal :D

Does the pedal come with mxr box, instructions and the rubber control cover?

Mine came in a MXR box. There is a quick guide booklet that comes with it, but I went online and searched settings for the sound I was looking for. It also came with a protective rubber cover for the switch. It’s an amazing pedal and worth every penny. Essential if you’re looking for the 70s era Van Halen sound (set the dial between 9 and 10 o’clock). Hope this answers your questions
