Montessori students learn to conceptualise relative quantity before learning the numerals. Numbers are taught first as quantities (instead of names), with number rods that can be manipulated and rearranged. Numeral tiles encourage children to trace each number with their finger. This book honours that tradition by emulating the standard classroom materials with a cumulative red and blue number rod, as well as touchable, traceable numbers and Montessori-directed language to encourage understanding. The numbers from 1-10 are introduced first as quantities to count and then as numerals, providing young children with an alternative way, a Montessori way, to learn their numbers. Review: Really helped gain an interest in letters and writing - This was on my wish list for years but i never bought until my son was really not showing interest in letters or numbers and I started to panic about him struggling in school. Along with activity books its been great for showing him the letters he needs to spell his name and he does actually trace the shape with his fingers. So glad I bought! Review: Great book! - Great resource and my boys loved it! The way the pages are set up makes perfect sense

Highly accomplished - a real hit.
I remedied the 2 common difficulties that many fellow reviewers expressed, by simply drawing an arrow on each page tab (i.e. follow the arrow to the answer) and accentuated the horizontal lines of the number rods with a black marker. Attractive, effective & reasonably priced - strongly recommended.

Confusing design flaw
Bought for my bright 2.5 year old to learn number symbols, but the way the book is arranged is like a quiz - it shows you 3 items and asks how many, and you turn the page to see the number 3. But then the next page shows 4 items. So on a double page spread, it shows 4 items next to the number 3... It's fine if we're reading together, but kind of confusing for him to read and understand alone.

good.
Great. We use it with a tray with salt. I saw funny reviews saying numbers are not on the right page. Lol

De lo concreto a lo abstracto
La metodología Montessori, primero entender con un ejemplo concreto de qué se está hablando para luego (y con eso en mente) aprender lo abstracto. Muy bueno, a mis hijas les gusta mucho.

I purchased this for my 5 year old who has struggles with number and letter recognition. Some reviewers have noted the numbers and images should be on the right and left sides of the pages. I actually appreciate that they do not line up like this. My son can count the images and then it is reinforced by stating/recognizing the number. If the numbers and images were side by side he has learned coping skills and would not have as much incentive to truly learn to recognize the number. I think this is helping him to count and identify numbers independently. It would be even more helpful, at least for our purpose if it wasn't in numerical order (much like the letter work book which we also love).

Confusing
My son likes to read to him self and when learning numbers it is hard to trust his own judgement. He is getting confused and has to ask for help.

Bien
