Used on Bestway 10ft fast set pool
So far so good. This does heat the pool but it takes a while. I didn't check the temperature before running the heater, sorry, I forgot, but it was icy cold, I dipped my fingers in and it was unpleasantly cold, you know that feeling that its so cold it feels like a burn?! Anyway we had the heater running for about 30 hours constant to get the heat to about 24ish degrees. I'm going to run it for about 48 hours constantly next time we are due some sun! My 7 year old twins played in it at 24 degrees, they were having so much fun that me and my husband got in with them. It wasn't bath temperature warm but it was warm enough that we stayed in for about an hour - this was in the cold torrential rain this weekend, (don't judge us playing in a pool during the storm, it was a right laugh) we only got out when the wind started blowing the marquee and lifting it and we needed to get out and take it down so it didn't blow away. I was worried that it was never gonna heat the pool but if it was nice enough to play in a storm then I know next time I can run it a bit longer and hopefully get more enjoyment out of the pool when the weather is nice! We don't have an outside socket, so disclaimer- I'm not suggesting anyone else does this, but we got a heavy duty 13amp extension cable and fully unwound it. I kept checking the heater plug and extension plug to make sure they didn't get hot - they didn't. I want to be clear that the instructions say it shouldn't be plugged into an extension cable. (All my other extensions are 10amp.) When I first ran the heater the water coming out felt very cold, I just kept the cover on the pool and every few hours I went out and swished the water round with the pool net. The filter pump i used was the one that came with the bestway 10ft fast set pool. I made sure the filter was clean and the chemicals were all balanced before I ran the heater. All in all, this heater does heat the pool, I was thinking it would only take the chill off but it was quite nice ambient temperature even during the wizard of Oz rain and wind we had! It's not cheap to run, it cost about £10ish for 24 hours. Like I said I'll be running it for 48 next time we have pool weather, I don't think it will need to be on everyday in nicer weather, once the pools warm I'm hoping just to run it for a few hours in the morning but I obviously don't know that for sure . Let's be real, if you want a massive pool in the UK, and you want the kids to actually get in and enjoy it without getting blue lips, its going to cost money. We filled it with cold water from the outside tap because our kitchen tap won't fit an adapter for the hose but at least now I know I can get it warm. This was just a little set up test before the school holidays. If I encounter any problems I'll update. Little update. In the rainy/windy weather this managed to get the pool to 32 degrees. It was a little pricey but I was expecting that and the kids got loads of use out of it. The last few days the weather was really hot, I refilled the pool and put the heater on just while the kids were at school. It cost a few pounds and the pool temp was again at 24 degrees which was warm enough for hot weather without any wind. I would recommend.

WARNING COMES WITH EU STYLE PLUG
We ordered this item from Amazon UK and fullfilled by Amazon UK when it arrived it had a Euro style 2 pin plug !!! We contacted Amazon about this who suggested an adaptor. I tried with an adaptor but the heater kept tripping so I had a replacement shipped out only to discover this too had a Euro style 2 pin plug. So this time I contacted INTEX UK whom were very helpful imforming me that under NO circumstances should the heater be used in the UK with an adaptor as it will keep tripping and be unsafe. I have asked Amazon for a refund and compensation due to the fact we have now had to drain the pool along with expensive chemicals down the drain. I am happy to report they have refunded the item and given us £15 voucher towards the lost chemicals. Amazon UK have now removed thier heaters from sale and I notice that only 3rd party sellers now supply them so it may well be an idea prior to purchase a quick email to the sellers and check which style RCD the heater they supply comes with as the 2 pin Euro style will not work with an adaptor in the UK and has the potential to maim or kill if used here. Intial calls were handled by overseas advisors whom did not grasp the issue of wrong type of RCD and the danger issue. Perhaps Amazon when selling any type of electrical goods they should direct calls to English call centres or even have a direct number to call when a customers has potential dangerous goods from them.

Brilliant!!!!!
The thing to remember about heating a swimming pool is that it isnt like boiling a pan of water and it takes a few days to reach the ideal temperature of around 28-30deg C. Alot of people make the mistake of expecting the pool water to be at a tropical temperature after a couple of hours and this will not happen without spending around one thousand pounds on a pool heater for your £150 swimming pool. We have an 18ft round pool that is 4ft deep and holds approx 20,000 litres of water. This little 3kw heater raised the temperature around 2degrees C per day with the help of a solar cover. When we switched the heater off the water temp dropped by approx 1 degree C per day. So basically, once youve hit the desired temperature you can switch the heater off and switch it on for approx 3days per week to keep your water between 25 & 30deg C. Not only is this a great little heater but its also the cheapest of its kind on the market. It says in the product description that its for pools up to 15ft diameter but as ive said, ours is 18ft and it does a fantastic job. I have no hesitation in recommending this heater. 5 starts all round - Brilliant!!

Long read but lots of information
After reading the reviews I was a little worried about this purchase but here are my findings. The heater is fairly easy to install, make sure you have a power source close as the cable isn't the longest. I used outside double plug on my shed. Heater is fairly easy to install, make sure your hoses are fitted in correct order from pool to pump to heater back into pool. Once plugged in and combined with our old pump both ran fine for around 10 mins before the power tripped on the fuse board in my shed. I reset and tried 4 or 5 times but same thing kept happening. I moved the pump plug to another shed socket hoping that would solve problem, but again power kept tripping out on the heater. It does say not to use an extension lead but people on here said they had done so fully unwound without any issues. So I decided to plug the heater into my extension lead and plugged it straight into a mains socket in our utility room. This seems to work fine. Not ideal as we had to leave window open overnight. I ran pump and heater overnight for around 10 hours, pool temp had gone from 18° to around 28° so very happy with that!! Use a pool cover if you have one to keep heat in. I got my electrician friend to check my fuses in shed and he told me the fuse in fuse board wasn't powerful enough to run the heater hence reason it kept tripping out. I have now ordered a 20 amp main fuse off Ebay for £6 which he will fit tomorrow, hopefully this will sort the problem. Right ! Running costs 😬 According to my electric meter running the pump and heater costs around £1.15 an hour so its not cheap but then again what is at the moment 🙄 So overall, check power supply if you are using outdoor plug socket. Try and place pool near power supply. Use sparingly due to running costs. Heater does work really well and kids are happy. Make sure your pool pump is powerful enough to circulate heated water. Do not use heater without pump running! Sorry for the long winded read but needed to tell MY findings, I'm sure others will have different findings.

Very tempremental
I have this currently set up to an 8 Foot Intex Easy Set Pool. It will heat the pool to around 30 degrees in around 10 hours, however I have had some teething problems with this heater. To get this heater to work with an extension lead you will need to make sure that the extension lead is 2.5mm thick and is completely unraveled otherwise the heater will constantly trip out. You will also need to ensure that all air pockets are removed from the pump and connecting pipes or the heater will overheat and cut out. If you take your time to set it up correctly the first time, you won't have the same problems I did. On a side note, this is very expensive to run, so if cost and budget are a factor, consider purchasing the Intex Solar Mats instead.

This little fella is AMAZING
I was really sceptical about using a heater and my husband wasn’t on side, he was not a fan of water / electrics combinations. So after reading the reviews and taking on some great tips, I took the plunge and here I am now, feeling like the cat’s got the cream. I have a 2.5m rectangle pool and used an inside hose to fill up with hot water while also using the solar top cover (some called it useless blue bubble wrap, but it is really effective). I linked my heater up with the same model filter as per instructions (easy peasy) and we are lucky with a reachable garden electric socket. I honestly thought I’d have to get husband interested but it was simple if you followed the instructions) and all I do is keep the filter / heater system on with the solar cover for a couple of hours in the morning (lifts the temperature about 1 degree an hour) and the sun does the rest. On a Californian sunny day, it’ll go beyond 30, I can generally get it up to 27 for the kiddies without much issue, it comes with it’s own superb little thermometer too. They are in it for hours. I use Clearwater fast action chlorine tablets and it’s never been so easy and so much fun. I have also purchased an outside socket cover to store the plug when not in use. If there’s a holiday, I’ll push the boat out and have the heater on for a couple more hours, especially if it’s a bit cloudy. But hey, we live in the UK so to have a heated pool, it was always going to be a bit of a luxury. The children think it’s for them but you may catch Mumma floating around with a G n T once bedtime has arrived! Totally recommend it.

pool heater
easily the best money I have spent this year. We bought this heater a week or so ago and I was slightly sceptical. We have a 15' circular Intex pool which was great last year but very cold as unheated. 5 days with the heater running plus a solar cover (it's been sunny but not very hot weather) and raised the temp. from 20 to 28 degrees and transfomred the fun we have with the pool. Note; you do really need a mains supply to run this, it draws 3.5KW - I put in an outside extention to our 250V ring main with the usual trunking and IP55 socket. The heater comes with a 13amp RCD hard-wired plug which is good. Do not expect the temp to rise quickly - it goes up by a degree a day. Probably won't get over 28 degrees unless we have a heat wave and will drop if weather cools. If it breaks will I buy another heater? - you bet I will! The only snag is higher electric bills! Just to update this; I got the heater out again this year at the end of June 2011 and set it up; after a day or so it failed (the RCD continually tripped). 15 days left on 1 year warranty. Rang the UK supplier as per the trouble shooting guide; helpful person told me to return the RCD plug and invoice (which of course is stored on the Amazon website so very easy to find!). Sent by guaranteed next day delivery; replacement heater on my doorstep 48 hours later and pool heating up nicely again. That's great service by any standard!

Not as advertised.
Used this pump for the recommended size and purpose. Left the pool covered and unused for 5 days and there was no measurable change in temperature. Complete waste of money. Do not buy this product if you're looking to heat your pool. It's an overpriced pump.
