Used on Bestway 10ft fast set pool
So far so good. This does heat the pool but it takes a while. I didn't check the temperature before running the heater, sorry, I forgot, but it was icy cold, I dipped my fingers in and it was unpleasantly cold, you know that feeling that its so cold it feels like a burn?! Anyway we had the heater running for about 30 hours constant to get the heat to about 24ish degrees. I'm going to run it for about 48 hours constantly next time we are due some sun! My 7 year old twins played in it at 24 degrees, they were having so much fun that me and my husband got in with them. It wasn't bath temperature warm but it was warm enough that we stayed in for about an hour - this was in the cold torrential rain this weekend, (don't judge us playing in a pool during the storm, it was a right laugh) we only got out when the wind started blowing the marquee and lifting it and we needed to get out and take it down so it didn't blow away. I was worried that it was never gonna heat the pool but if it was nice enough to play in a storm then I know next time I can run it a bit longer and hopefully get more enjoyment out of the pool when the weather is nice! We don't have an outside socket, so disclaimer- I'm not suggesting anyone else does this, but we got a heavy duty 13amp extension cable and fully unwound it. I kept checking the heater plug and extension plug to make sure they didn't get hot - they didn't. I want to be clear that the instructions say it shouldn't be plugged into an extension cable. (All my other extensions are 10amp.) When I first ran the heater the water coming out felt very cold, I just kept the cover on the pool and every few hours I went out and swished the water round with the pool net. The filter pump i used was the one that came with the bestway 10ft fast set pool. I made sure the filter was clean and the chemicals were all balanced before I ran the heater. All in all, this heater does heat the pool, I was thinking it would only take the chill off but it was quite nice ambient temperature even during the wizard of Oz rain and wind we had! It's not cheap to run, it cost about £10ish for 24 hours. Like I said I'll be running it for 48 next time we have pool weather, I don't think it will need to be on everyday in nicer weather, once the pools warm I'm hoping just to run it for a few hours in the morning but I obviously don't know that for sure . Let's be real, if you want a massive pool in the UK, and you want the kids to actually get in and enjoy it without getting blue lips, its going to cost money. We filled it with cold water from the outside tap because our kitchen tap won't fit an adapter for the hose but at least now I know I can get it warm. This was just a little set up test before the school holidays. If I encounter any problems I'll update. Little update. In the rainy/windy weather this managed to get the pool to 32 degrees. It was a little pricey but I was expecting that and the kids got loads of use out of it. The last few days the weather was really hot, I refilled the pool and put the heater on just while the kids were at school. It cost a few pounds and the pool temp was again at 24 degrees which was warm enough for hot weather without any wind. I would recommend.

Rubbish Product
I bought one of these two years ago and was very pleased with the results. It heated our 12 foot pool very well for a whole summer. However, last year it stopped working. The Heating Element had burnt out. I decided that it had at least lasted a whole summer the previous year and although I was slightly disappointed I bought another one. This one kept cutting in and out of operation intermittently. One day it would be working the next day it would be off. I had a look at the tilt switch, thermostat and Heating Element and found no problems (I am an Electrician by trade). The kids only managed one day in the pool all of last summer due to poor weather and this rubbish heater. I got it out this year and it seemed to be working better but has burnt out after a few days. I tried to use the original one again as I managed to replace the Heating Element but this will not work either. Now looking for a more reliable heater.

Brilliant!!!!!
The thing to remember about heating a swimming pool is that it isnt like boiling a pan of water and it takes a few days to reach the ideal temperature of around 28-30deg C. Alot of people make the mistake of expecting the pool water to be at a tropical temperature after a couple of hours and this will not happen without spending around one thousand pounds on a pool heater for your £150 swimming pool. We have an 18ft round pool that is 4ft deep and holds approx 20,000 litres of water. This little 3kw heater raised the temperature around 2degrees C per day with the help of a solar cover. When we switched the heater off the water temp dropped by approx 1 degree C per day. So basically, once youve hit the desired temperature you can switch the heater off and switch it on for approx 3days per week to keep your water between 25 & 30deg C. Not only is this a great little heater but its also the cheapest of its kind on the market. It says in the product description that its for pools up to 15ft diameter but as ive said, ours is 18ft and it does a fantastic job. I have no hesitation in recommending this heater. 5 starts all round - Brilliant!!

Works ok but uses a lot of power. FIne for very occasional use.
The heater itself is easy to fit and comes with a floating thermometer. The supplied RCD is good too. It wasn't until I read in the manual that it would take 2 hours to raise the pool temperature by 1 degree (12 foot round pool) that I fully understood the limitations of this heater. To heat my pool to something approaching acceptable even for a sunny day was going to take about 10 hours. It's 3Kw /12.5A, same as a big kettle and the plug and cable were quite hot by this time and although the water was now fine to float around in without a wetsuit I have my doubts about it's long term use. Quite honestly, it would have been cheaper and quicker to attach a hose to the hot tap and half fill the pool that way. If it's for occasional use, probably fine, but if you're thinking of using it more than once a week then look at a heat exchanger plumbed into the central heating or a heat pump system. They are a bit more expensive to buy but very much cheaper to run.

3rd one purchased now and replaced. Given up with it now. Waste of money. Works for a short period of time then breaks.
