I've seen answers for bread sizes but I cannot find a loaf that fits !..tried all the suggestions ..They might be the right length but not width..

I've just bought this toasted sandwich maker and I can see why some customers ask about bread size. The bread needs to be bigger than a standard loaf to achieve a good toastie. This is partly because ideally you do want the toastie to be sealed along all its edges but also because this is a deeper than usual toasted sandwich maker and the bread tends to sag lower, and doesn't remain in contact with the upper hotplate, and therefore you find that your bread isn't always toasted properly on its top surface. All in all, I shall persevere but I think a machine with smaller plates is probably better.

Where can i source bread the right size, i tried warbutgons toasted and they are even smaller than other bread. it is not sealed if not right size.

I know exactly what you mean what we do is roll the bread with a pastry roller and it works perfectly

Does this set off smoke alarm

It's ever happened to me. As this item does not have a cut off switch I always allow it to heat up thoroughly before putting in a sandwich for toasting. I usually set a timer for 6 minutes. Sandwich is nicely toasted. Food does not burn and smoke. Then I switch off the toaster. Clean the appliance while it's still hot. Much easier to remove any bits left on the toaster plates.
