Fun and educational! What's not to like!?
Gift for my nephews. Turned out better than I thought. Easy and fun, and you see results on a time scale that is better for young kids, unlike some of the crystal growing kits, that can take days.

Pretty cool!!
I did not have high hopes after reading some of the reviews, but the whole family actually liked them! 2 kids, 2 parents and grandma each made one. You color a paper tree with markers. As you can see in the pictures, only the blue and purple markers really showed up. (Maybe try using other markers?) We did them around 8 p.m. The crystals started growing after about 45 minutes, and we were all surprised at how cool they were the next morning. I think one of the key things is to wet the tops of the trees with the crystal solution. As others have said, this is a throw away project - the crystals are not sturdy enough to keep.

Kids were amazed
Great activity, easy instructions and I still can’t figure out how this worked. Amazing trees grew over night and the kids couldn’t believe they made them. They were very delicate so take your pictures fast before someone accidentally knocks one over and causes destruction beyond repair with lots of crying.

Cute project
Really cool but falls apart everywhere even if you dont touch it. It takes awhile to grow a lot longer than advertised.

A Huge Hit with My Grandkids – Fun and Educational
I purchased the National Geographic Craft Kit, and my grandkids absolutely loved it! From the moment we opened the box, they were excited to dive in and start creating. The instructions were easy to follow, and the projects were engaging enough to keep their attention from start to finish. What I really appreciate about this kit is that it’s not just fun—it’s educational too! My grandkids learned new facts and skills while making something they could proudly show off afterward. The materials were high-quality, colorful, and safe for kids to handle, which gave me peace of mind. We had such a great time working on these crafts together—it made for a wonderful bonding activity and sparked their curiosity about the world around them. I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking for a fun, hands-on project for kids!

The Other National Geographic Crystal Kits are Better
I'm a homeschooling mom of 6 boys, and when we talk about crystals in science class, I buy one of the National Geographic kits. We previously tried National Geographic's set of 3 small crystals with a light and the large single crystal that glows in the dark kit and absolutely loved them. To switch it up this time, I tried this kit, not only are the "crystals" too small to examine, they crumble if they are touched or moved in anyway. They remind me more of coral than crystals. I will be going back to the other kits the next time we want to grow crystals. The trees were pretty, but not what I had in mind.

Es increíble ver como van creciendo. De algunos se cae gran parte mientras se forma. Supongo por la forma del árbol pero se ven súper lindos. Pasado un día se volvió más fuerte. No sé cuánto vayan a durar así pero los amamos

It produces a good result as advertised and grows quickly which is great for impatient kiddies. It starts growing within 30 minutes and is almost fully grown after a few hours. The downside is the growth is extremely fragile and a lot of the growth falls off on its own without touching it (photo). If you touch the trees or knock them even slightly, a lot of the “cauliflower” growth falls off so not great for kids who expect to be able to handle and examine them often they’re grown. Update: The vendor reached out to us and gave a full refund because we were disappointed with this product which pleasantly surprised us. We have bought several other National Geographic kits in the past and have been very pleased with them. This was the only one that was a little disappointing.
