Does this backpack have some kind of protected area for a laptop?

Hello, none of the backpacks have designed laptop or tablet sleeves. However the `Hook and Hang' pocket in the bag is big enough to accommodate most laptops. We do suggest coupling this with a padded laptop sleeve or case. We will have laptop sleeves available in the coming months to accompany our backpacks for field-to-office, training, or educational needs.

Can i use my camelbak 100 ounce mil-spec antidote reservoir long 90857 (reservoir dimensions: 17 x 8 x 1 in) thanks

Yes, but keep in mind you will have to open the double zippered top where you drop the bladder into. This bag does not have a dedicated drinking tube port opening. So once the bladder is in place. Run the drinking tube up and out. Then close the zipper either to the left or right side whichever you prefer. Hope this helps.
