But, it's 1) really ugly and 2) a bit cheap in terms of quality. Both run all day and all night. They collect a large amount of dust and so far cleaned them out once after 2 months ownership. Easy to clean with a car vac.They pretty much run on silent all the time unless they detect an odour. As soon as they do they go mental for about 30 mins and then resume their silent mode. Can be a bit much when watching TV but you simply use the remote to set them to silent manually from the Auto mode they are in.The definitely reduce the dust build up in the house.I have never seen the allergy or dust lights come on as of yet only the odour one. Hayfever season is imminent so we shall see how they cope in the summer as I get severe attacks of hayfever mid July.Would recommend to anyone who wants a dust reducer and they definitely detect even the slightest odour in the house. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Not intelligent enough to handle persistent poor air quality *by L***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 October 2013* When it's set up and working, this air filter is excellent - five star quality for the way it cleans the air. But it loses threestars immediately for me because of a serious flaw in its design.The unit works by establishing a base-line of good air quality when you first power it on. Which is itself a bit unfortunate,if you're buying it because you have poor air quality in your home, rather than because you need to counter occasionally-produced pollutants. But I can understand the thinking there: I wouldn't want the thing powering on at full power all the timeto try to get the air in my home to match the air quality in the Alps, say. Especially as the reason I bought it is because Ilive upstairs from a heavy smoker, whose smoke finds it way into my kitchen, no matter what we try to block it off. But there'sno battery on board to power that memory: the unit is entirely dependent on mains electricity for its power supply. So you can'tset the air quality sensor in one room, switch off and move the unit to the location where the problem is.(Not in any worthwhileway, anyway.) And how dumb is that, when the thing needs cleaning inside every two months? Can't wait to try to thoroughlyventilate the kitchen in the depths of winter....Actually cleaning inside this thing is such a palaver that I docked it the fourth star as well. (So if you don't fancy carefullyscrubbing a metal grid with a toothbrush every couple of months whilst being careful not to break very flimsy-looking,electrical wires, this one's definitely not for you.) As well as generally removing all the dust inside, you're supposed toclean the dust sensor when the unit needs cleaning - which means disconnecting the cable from the sensor unit, opening it up byremoving a couple of tiny screws, dabbing away at the innards with a cotton bud and then putting it all back together, having'carefully remembered' how it was all put together when you found it. Very carefully remembered: there's no diagram in theinstruction leaflet of how the cable fits into the unit.
