A lively bluffing game that gets fun quickly and works well with groups
The rules are simple enough to explain in a minute, and the bluffing element creates some great moments when people try to sound convincing. The cards are clear and the board keeps the rounds moving at a good pace. I tried it with a mixed group and it worked well for both adults and older kids. Itโs the kind of game that gets louder as it goes on because everyone gets more confident with the nonsense answers. A fun, social game thatโs easy to bring out on game nights.

Easy to pick up and play
Easy to pick up and play. The game is all about bluffing your way to beat the other team. We've had similar concepts in the past and played this with another couple over Christmas. It was good fun amongst adults and we did enjoy ourselves. The game has lots of cards available so you won't run out of questions too quickly. Quality of the box and cards is decent and as you'd expect at this price. Value is good enough at this price and if it's on offer it'd be even better. We'll probably take this away with us when we go with the kids and play with our older two children. Good fun!

Changed version
I bought this item having played before. It seems they have simplified the rules, making the game worse in my view (now more of a quiz game than a bluff game). It can be played to the old rules with some home made cards and is then a 5 star game

A really fun game! But perhaps moreso for adults than children
I recently played this game with my family - there were four of us, aged between 35-75. It was fairly quick to get to grips with, and we had a great time playing it! Once we had our winner my dad and I kept going, and I can confirm it is still fun to play the game with just two of you, albeit not quite so entertaining as with a slightly larger group. The board is set out like an open mouth, so you move forwards/backwards a certain number of โteethโ depending how successful you were on your turn. At first I thought - why teeth? But having got into the game a little, I can see that it fits in with the nonsensical, bluffing theme of the game. I must admit that whilst I love board games - some might say obsessively so - Iโm not usually a huge fan of general knowledge/trivia-based games. A few of those I was playing with noted how difficult the questions were, too. However, the game is less about your level of general knowledge and much more about your ability to act like you do (or donโt) know the answer, which is where the fun begins! What can make it slightly predictable is how well you know your fellow players. My dad and my sister, for example, are notoriously interested in (and good at retaining) facts. My mum and I much less so, which meant we had to work extra hard to โpersuadeโ the others that we knew the answer..! Having said that, you can also do well at this game if youโre simply good at working out who is bluffing, so there is a good balance there. I do doubt, however, that this game would typically be good for children. It would depend on the individual of course, but the majority of the questions are difficult and often dry. I had a wonderful time playing this game, but Iโm not sure it would have held my attention for long as a child. The board, the box and all the parts feel weighty and high quality, with a vibrant design. The box is fairly compact. Overall this is a fun, moderately challenging board game that would make a lovely gift for someone who enjoys games featuring both trivia and deception.

Good general knowledge game
A great game for those who enjoy testing and improving their general knowledge, with a wide range of subjects and a vast number of questions to suit anyone - teenagers and up. It can be played by up to six people. You can choose not to use the multiple choice answers during the game to make it harder. We enjoyed it, it reminded us of Trivial Pursuit but in this case it was easier and much quicker to play with more interaction between the players. Weโll definitely be playing this regularly over the Christmas period. The quality of the game parts is good and being compact itโs easy to store and transport. Good value in my opinion and recommended.

Great laugh with friends, just wish it had a bit more variety
๐ฒ I was lucky enough to get this through the Amazon Vine programme :) ๐ This is for Poppycock! Which is a bluffing and trivia-style party game thatโs basically all about making nonsense sound believable. We played it over the weekend with friends, and it got chaotic very fast. โ ๏ธ The setupโs simple enough: players basically take turns reading statements that might be true or total rubbish, and everyone else has to decide whether itโs fact or โpoppycock.โ You score points by fooling others or spotting the lies etc. Itโs quick to learn, though explaining it to people whoโve had a few drinks adds it's own layer of comedy, very funny, very messy :D ๐ฆ What came in the box The main deck of cards, a board, instructions, and some small counters. What I liked: โ Easy to pick up and play โ The questions are weirdly funny and random โ Works well for groups and mixed ages โ Feels like something youโll actually replay What I didnโt like: โ The designโs a bit plain for the price โ Some of the trivia repeats if you play too often โ Loses a bit of energy if you play with fewer than four people The bottom line: Itโs silly, social, and hits a sweet spot in my opinion between guessing game and party chaos. A fun little bluffing game that doesnโt take itself too seriously. ๐ My rating: โ โ โ โ โ Great laugh with friends, just wish it had a bit more variety

just not for me or the people I played with.
It looks like I'm not as enamoured with this as most users. I've had this for a while, but didn't really get a chance to sit down and play it until this weekend. Quality wise, it's a fairly simple board with fairly cheap pieces. There's a few squares which are differently coloured, which affects gameplay, but only a few. Mainly it's supposed to be about bluffing or double bluffing. Forcing backwards moves for others if your bluff gets through and they believe you, or you moving back if they don't, or a muddle if some do and some don't. One player answers and then other players agree, persuaded or not, by "shouting". Maybe if there was any element of fun, but no one was shouting when we played. The main problem is the questions. They are very much in a Trivial Pursuit style, as are the categories, just different colours. Yes, this is fairly normal for all quiz formats with categories. But the questions themselves aren't Trivial Pursuit level. Most are fairly easy. For us it just led to a very quick race with one or two missteps along the way. It may have been better, as suggested, to make it more difficult by removing the multiple choice options, but we just couldn't be bothered and folded up and put it away. We all just felt there are better board games out there. It's average. It's playable. But if you have other games in the cupboard, and like me it's rare you get the time or enough willing participants to play a game, you need it to be something everyone wants to play.

Fun Game for Groups that Doesn't Take a lot of Time
I love the very small box the game came in, which translated to less materials and a small board to take up less room on a table. The board was very sturdy, and the thickness of the cards were good enough so that it wouldn't easily wrinkle. The instructions were initially difficult to understand (3 college grads, 1 law degree, 1 techie), but I read them out loud several times, we all asked questions, and in the end, it helped after we started playing. One round took about 30-40 minutes. While playing, we still struggled w/the instructions. For example, I'm not completely sure about how to indicate poppycock or persuaded... do we count 1-2-3 and all flip our cards? Or do we just yell it? That would eliminate the need for this set of cards. Also, if we don't do it at the same time, it could be easy to guess whether it's truly poppycock or persuaded. For example, if the question is regarding a Marvel movie, and Player A is a big fan and yelled Poppycock, I might follow because I might think she should know the right answer. The questions were kind of difficult, and it felt more geared towards adults; for example, there were world geography and cooking questions that a 10 year old might not have knowledge of, and most of the questions were of similar difficulty. The game cost $20, which seems like the typical price of board games, and we love that it had 150 cards. With 5 categories, that's 750 questions which would have taken someone a lot of time to compile. Other than the instructions that could use a re-write, when I opened my game, all the cards were scattered as pictured, and it gave me the impression that these were returned, and they were just re-routed to me. The paper bands are in there, but the cards were not in the band. The white cover was ripped in two places indicating to me that the first owner might have struggled with taking it out and getting to the cards. I'm sure sellers re-sell used products, but it would be good if it wasn't so obvious. I do look forward to playing this game again soon.

Poppycock - The Hilarious Bluffing Trivia Quiz, Clarendon Games, Anti-Genius Family Party game
I ordered the Poppycock - The Hilarious Bluffing Trivia Quiz, Clarendon Games, Anti-Genius Family Party game for an upcoming night with friends. The game is easy to learn and read the rules. What makes Poppycock brilliant is how it rewards creativity and performance rather than just knowledge. Unlike traditional trivia games where you either know the answer or you don't, this game give you have to bluff your way through and see if the players can see if it's true or not. We had a blast it created a lot of laughs for the night. Can't wait to play it again. IF you are looking for a different type of game this is for you. Highly recommend!

Super fun game - lots of replay-ability
This game has been a huge hit during game nights. It is quick to learn, easy to explain, and almost immediately gets people laughing. What makes it work so well is that you do not need to be good at trivia. In fact, sometimes not knowing the answer makes the game more fun. The bluffing mechanic is the star. Trying to confidently sell a completely made-up answer while keeping a straight face is surprisingly difficult, and watching other players do the same leads to some genuinely funny moments. The multiple-choice format gives just enough structure to make the bluffs believable without feeling restrictive. It scales well for different group sizes and does not overstay its welcome. Games move along at a good pace, and because it relies on social interaction rather than memorization, it has strong replay value. This is an easy recommendation for families with older kids (the age range is probably 10+) or adults looking for a light, social party game. It would also make a good gift or white elephant contribution. We got a lot of fun out of it for the price point.

The group matters
This game can be SUPER funny and SUPER fun, with the right group. You want to avoid too big and age gap between players, or it becomes unbalanced. I.e. my 11 year old loves to play family games with us, but this isn't a great pick to mix him with adults, because his knowledge base is not on the same level and he becomes frustrated. It's also not ideal for a group where everybody knows each other too well, because you can often tell they're full of it. For a party, especially one where you don't know the other players like the back of your hand, it's a hoot. Set up is pretty easy, but I never could find any instructions for play besides the bare bones on the back of the box so we're still not 100% sure what to do with some of the cards or what the rules are supposed to be wrt getting caught in a fib or voting against somebody who wasn't fibbing, and have had to kind of make up our own, which I find quite furstrating. The questions are really quite good, and much more modern than the classic Trival Pursuit, and the gameplay is a lot faster and more whimsical, which is nice and I like the question variety as well.

Super Fun Game - Bluffing Makes It Challenging and Entertaining
This is a super fun game that creates hilarious moments and genuine entertainment for game night. The bluffing mechanic can be so tough to pull off convincingly, but that difficulty is exactly what makes it all the more fun. Trying to keep a straight face while delivering complete nonsense as if it's factual is harder than it sounds! What makes Poppycock brilliant is how it rewards creativity and performance rather than just knowledge. Unlike traditional trivia games where you either know the answer or you don't, this game gives you a chance to succeed through persuasive bluffing and reading other players. The multiple choice format provides just enough structure to make bluffing plausible while still allowing for creative storytelling. The game is incredibly easy to learn - just 2 minutes to understand the rules - but provides 30 minutes or more of engaging gameplay. This quick setup makes it perfect for casual game nights when you don't want to spend forever explaining complicated rules. The 2+ player range means it works for small gatherings or larger parties. The "anti-genius" positioning is spot-on. This isn't a game that punishes you for not knowing obscure facts. Instead, it celebrates quick thinking, confidence, and the ability to sell a good story. Some of the funniest moments come from the most outrageous bluffs that somehow convince other players. The quality of the cards and components appears solid, and the age 10+ rating makes this accessible for family game nights with older kids. The mix of trying to detect others' bluffs while delivering your own creates engaging player interaction that keeps everyone involved. For anyone looking for a party game that's easy to learn, quick to play, and genuinely hilarious, Poppycock delivers excellent entertainment. The bluffing element adds replayability since it's about performance and player dynamics rather than memorizing answers.
