All I know for sure is that this is the only product that works for me. Stopped my arthritic pain in my back. No more sleepless nights and I am 84 years old. **Q: Is the stearic acid from plant or animal source?** A: I no longer have the container from that product, which I did not buy again because the tablets are grossly oversized, about double of other bromelain supplements, and due to their rough texture, even harder to get down.
