Disney's Frozen [DVD]

Disney has done it again! They've produced another masterpiece, this one big and beautiful enough to rival even Tangled and (dare I say it) Beauty and the Beast in its elegance and female independence! Now, I have to admit it, I never went to see this when it came out at the cinema. It was too busy and to be honest, I wasn't too keen on the adverts - no matter how cute Sven and Olaf were. But my friend said it was 'epic' so I bought the DVD, pressed play and watched... And fell in love with the 52nd animated feature... As well as the special features! The story: Now, Frozen is all about two sisters, the Queen and Princess of Arendelle, who are separated by a magical secret. Queen Elsa has the power to control snow, and after an argument with her sister Princess Anna, this is revealed and an eternal winter is released. Anna, feeling guilty and sad over her sisters sudden disappearance and the creation of eternal winter, goes off on a rescue mission to save her town - meeting some new friends along the way. Based upon 'the snow queen' by Hans Christian Anderson, the writers of Disney have done a really good job with this. The characters: Queen Elsa is a troubled and powerful young woman, filled with fear and uncertainty about her abilities. I think Disney have done a brilliant job of portraying her emotions through songs and her powers - I mean, the ice changes colour depending on her mood, how awesome is that? Plus, her sheer determination and sense of duty/protection is admirable, simply from a moral perspective. Anna is probably the most naive character of the entire story, but she's so endearing! Agreeing to marry someone after one day? Though I have to say that the moment she meets the Prince is hysterically funny; all that balancing and awkwardness- and then the horse just lets go of the boat and the prince ends up soaked! Ace. And the prince deserves it - he's a douchebag. Anyway, for Anna, this film is a journey of self-discovery and comedy of errors - she finds out what she wants and what people are really like. And her songs are adorable - Do you want to build a snowman? - has to be my favourite. Okay, l also have to talk about the guys. I'll start with the moron of a Prince. I mean, sure he's handsome and he wears a suit, but really? If his own horse would let him drown, what does that say about a man? On the flip side of things, I love his character from a writers point if view. He's just so sneaky and clever; this is a guy with twelve brothers who is never going to be king, so instead of complaining, he goes and seduces an heir instead! It's brilliant in a way - vicious and underhandedly cruel, but brilliant nonetheless. From bad to beautiful, Kristoff is simply adorable. I'm going to give another huge compliment here to the writers and say that the way characters are introduced and interact with one another is simply superb. Kristoff is a down to earth, fresh kind of guy who values honesty and integrity. He's also protective and relatively intelligent; when he has an argument with Anna over her engagement, his consternation over it is adorable. The fact that he talks to her about getting to know people is admirable and something everyone should consider. He's the type of guy that girls should want to date, not a flashy dude with hardly any substance. The last thing I'm going to chat about is the sidekicks, Sven and Olaf - because who can watch a Disney film without talking about the epicness of the magic and animal kingdoms. Sven the reindeer has to be my favourite; he's like a massive dog in reindeer clothing, and his attitude to life - love and play - is the best ever. He's loyal, smart, and just like other brilliant sidekicks he provides the comedic relief in form of slippery blunders and funny snorts. He's also a bit of a matchmaker, which is quite amusing too. Olaf is the animated snowman with a desire for all things summer. Now, when I first heard him singing, I fell about in fits of hysterical laughter because, really, who the hell would think about dressing a snowman in a summer hat and sticking him on a beach to sing? It is writing genius. Coming into the film at a tense moment, he provides the light-heartedness that we enjoy in Disney while keeping the relationship between the two sisters alive - Olaf was the snowman of Anna's childhood. I'm gonna quickly mention the trolls too. Little tumbling rocks of bundling fun, these family orientated magical creatures were perfect for this film. They kept the story going and egged on the romantic element as well - not to mention making everyone laugh with their song lyrics. Overall, I was overjoyed with Frozen. It is a story of love and triumph over adversity, a tale of sisterhood and family. But what is perhaps even more inspirational about this film is that it shows us even the worst fears can be overcome with hope, trust, and a little bit of love. Well done Disney!

I watched this kind of half hearted, having not heard a great deal about it. MY GOD was I shocked! The graphics are spell binding, and the expressions that the likes of Elsa and Anna make are quite simply so human-like I was in awe! The graphics are also so beautiful, the snowflakes and glittery snow leaves your speechless as is its sheer beauty. The producers have been nominated for several awards, including 2 Oscar's and frankly they deserve it. It truly is the best Disney film since The Lion King and I mean that as a die hard Disney fan! I think the testiment of a good film is good humour, a bit of romance, a bit of fear, amazing soundtrack and likeable characters. Well this, my friends, delivers all of those and more. It even chucks in a good morale to the story which is lovely for kids and adults alike :) I am telling anyone that will listen to watch this story, as its sooooo sweet. My favourite scene ever (maybe in Disney history!) is when Elsa goes off into the forest and sings 'Let it Go' (this song was nominated for an Oscar for a reason people!) Also, if you like the musical 'Wicked' you will know the famous song 'Gravity.' Idina Menzel sings the lead in that so if you love her voice, you will love Elsa! I have actually started braiding my hair into a side French plait haha! <3

As a 27 year old adult, I am not ashamed to say I enjoyed this movie. No, it's not the best Disney film of all time or my fave musical of all time but was exactly what I expected it to be. Yes, the character's are your typical beautiful princesses going through a hard time and each trying to find their place in the world. You've got your comedy sidekicks, obvious twist on who the bad guy really is and once again True Love saves the day. But in saying all that, this movie is fun and feel good and shouldn't be taken too seriously. The music is generic but upbeat and catchy and the vocal talents of the main voice actors are immense. The character's are likeable not loveable but each has it's own charm and are all for the most part entertaining. The movie didn't feel that long as I felt the pace of the story moved quite quickly and although the ending could have been executed a bit better it didn't spoil my overall enjoyment of the movie. One warning though, do not watch this if you hate musicals, there is a lot of songs in this film. Overall, while not the strongest Disney film in my opinion, it is enjoyable and fun and is highly recommended for times where you're wanting something fun for your kids to watch that you can enjoy too or just need something easy going and fun to watch one afternoon you're feeling a bit fed up.

I did enjoy the movie, timeless classic. Must watch especially in winter.

Der 53. Abendfüllende Animation Film aus dem Hause Disney ist "FROZEN" (zu dt. "Die Eiskönigin - völlig unverfroren" der dieses Jahr am 2. März mit 2 Oscar für besten Animationsfilm und Bester Song ausgezeichnet wurden ist. Er ist nun der erfolgreichste Animationsfilm aller Zeiten (Platz 10) der den König der Löwen" (Platz 20) mit weitem Platzabstand hinter sich gelassen hat. ***INHALT*** Der Film handelt über die zwei Königstöchter Elsa und Anna. Elsa hat besondere Zauberkräfte, die es ihr ermöglichen Eis und Schnee herbei zu Zaubern und somit zu jeder Jahreszeit und Stunde alles in eine Wunderschöne Winterlandschaft verwandeln kann. Jedoch geschieht es, während sie mit Anna spielt hat, dass sie Anna mit einen Eisblitz an ihrem Kopf trifft und Annas Leben in Gefahr bringt. Durch einen Troll wurden Annas Erinnerung an jegliche Magie von Elsa genommen, sodass sie sich nicht mehr an die jeglichen Schnee oder Magie von Elsa erinnert. Elsa lebt seit jenen Tage an isoliert von ihrer Schwester und die Tore vom Königreich wurden verschlossen, um sie von der Außenwelt zu schützen. Die Töchter wuchsen nun isoliert von einander auf und Elsas Kräfte wurden immer stärker, sodass sie Angst hat auch ihre Eltern, die ihr immer zur Seite standen, zu verletzen. Während einer Reise kommen die Eltern umsleben, sodass Elsa nun alleine zu Recht kommen muss. Drei Jahre nach dem Tragischen Unfall wird Elsa zur Königin von Arrendell gekrönt und Anna freut sich endlich zum ersten mal nach so langer Zeit wieder aus den Toren heraus zu dürfen. Anna trifft ihren Traum Prinzen, Hans von den Südlichen Inseln, und bittet ihre Schwester um den Segen für ihre Hochzeit. Als jedoch Elsa die Hochzeit ablehnt und Anna auf sie einredet, verliert Elsa ihr Temperament und lässt ihre Kräfte frei. Dabei verwandelt sie den Kronsaal in einen Eis Saal und ihre Ängste wachsen ihn ihr heran. Um keinen mit ihren Kräften zu verletzen flüchtet Elsa in die Berge, was sie jedoch nicht mitbekommt, ist das sie das ganze Königreich mit Schnee bedeckt und den derzeitigen Sommer in den tiefsten Winter verwandelt. Anna macht sich auf dem weg den Sommer zurückzuholen und trifft dabei auf Kristoff, sein Rentier Sven und den Schneemann Olaf, der von Elsa gebaut wurden ist. ***BILD*** Das Bild der Blu-ray ist Atemberaubend, auch wenn man sich die 3D Version anschaut ist man mitten im geschehen. Das Bild besitzt tiefen schärfe und ist von der Animation her mit den Kollegen von Dreamworks gleich zusetzten. Dies ist der Beste 3D Film den ich von Disney je gesehen habe!! Die Plastizität ist um vieles besser geworden und es gibt vorallen in Schneeszenen wunderschöne Pop-outs. An einigen stellen ist ein Ghost-pic zusehen, was jedoch nur bei sehr genauen ansehen aufällt. Disney hat es geschafft nun in immer realere Mimik, Gestik und Emotionen rüberzubringen, die bei manchen Filmen echt fehlten. Würde man sich den Film ohne Ton ansehen erkennt man hier sehr deutlich was die Charaktere durchleben und wie die Handlung des Filmes sich fortspielt. Auch die vielen kleinen und doch großartigen Details sind mit sehr viel Herzblut erschaffen wurden. Sei es nun der Palast von Elsa, die vielen kleinen Schneeflocken oder die verschiedenen Stoffe. Alles sieht sehr Real aus als würde man es im echtem leben sehen. ***TON*** Die Tonspuren liegen hier in Englisch und Deutsch in HD-DTS Mastered 7.1 vor, sonst in Türkisch und Italienisch in DTS 5.1 vor und sind für ein Heim Kino wirklich perfekt. Die Räumlichkeit wird hier noch einmal unterstützt und sogar ziemlich lauten Bereichen, zB. Wenn gerade Gesungen wird, hört man immer noch die Hintergrundgeräusche klar heraus. Wie im Oscar preisgekröntem Lied Let it Go", in dem Elsa sehr viel Schnee und Eis herbeizaubert, sind die Hintergrundgeräusche ein richtiger Genuss für die Ohren. Alle Tonspuren sind sehr Klar und perfekt abgestimmt, sodass auch bei verschiedenen Stimmen die über einander Lappen keine Übersteuerung zu hören ist. Auch die Synchronsprecher sind ein richtiger Genuss. Sei es nun im Deutsch oder im Englischen. Nach langerzeit sind die Lieder wieder in einem Harmonischen Gesang übergegangen und der Deutsche Soundtrack braucht sich hier auch nicht mehr verstecken. Im Deutschen werden zwei Protagonisten von Musicalstars vertont. Das wäre einmal die Eiskönigin, Elsa, die von der niederländischen Musicalsängerin Willemijn Verkaik gesungen wird und Hape Kerkeling den den Schneemann Olaf sowohl mit gesang und Stimme zum leben erweckt. Jeder der englisch versteht sollte sich hier den Film auch in der Original Sprache anschauen. Hier werden den Figuren noch einmal mehr Ausdruck verliehen. Sei es nun von dem Wicked Musical Star Idina Menzel (Adele DazeemXD) als Elsa oder Kristin Bell als Anna alle haben hier eine super Arbeit geleistet und auch die Lieder gehen nach einmal hören nicht so leicht aus dem Kopf! ***EXTRAS*** Die Extras sind hier recht mau gehalten. Das einzige Interessante war für mich die 4 Gelöschten Szenen, die kleine Hintergrundinfo, dass Disney schon einmal was mit der Schneekönigin zu tun hatte und den Kurzfilm Get a Horse". Ansonsten liegen Hier auch alle Extras in HD vor sodass man die auch in 1080p bewundern kann. ***FAZIT*** Dies ist nun nach knapp 20 Jahren wieder der erste Film der Herzen von Disney Fans wieder Höher schlagen lässt. Mit seinem Atemberaubenden Soundtrack und Bild Gewaltigkeit ist es Ein Disney Film der beim Anschauen nie langweilig wird (Es sei denn man ist kein Freund von der Musik oder das in den Filmen Gesungen werden. Mir persönlich ist der Film seit der ersten Minute im Kino an das Herzgewachsen, auch wenn ich die Trailer nicht mochte. Der Film besitzt auch wieder einmal wie man es von Disney Gewohnt ist eine Moral die ganz frei nach dem Märchen von Hanz Christian Andersens Gleichnamigen Märchen Die Schneekönigin" erinnert. Für mich ist es mein absoluter Lieblings Film geworden, und ich bin dankbar dafür, dass ich Zeuge von diesem Meisterwerk seien durfte. Ich kann diesen Film nur weiter an Kinder und deren Eltern und allen anderen Menschen auf dieser Welt empfehlen. ALSO Lasst jetzt Los" und genießt den Film. KLARE KAUFEMPFEHLUNG^^

The 4K version of Disney's 'Frozen' is worth every penny, because to see this animated film on a large flat screen television set is to have a greater understanding of the work that went into making this movie. You have the songs, the characters, the story backdrops, and the overall solid story telling that recent Disney films are sorely lacking. I believe anyone looking to improve on the standard DVD of this film, the 4K rendition will value the improvement in today's technology. In addition, this DVD will make a wonderful Christmas gift, for those individuals who do not own a copy of 'Frozen'. Do yourself a favor and buy it.
