How do you stop the duster falling off the handle

If you have put it on properly it should not fall off.

Can these be used for metal Venetian blind slats?

I can't think of a reason why not. But saying this, you are probably better off with one of those you can clean several slats at the same time. Put "venetian blind cleaning tools" in Amazon search. You will get a lot of options. If you want something for easy dusting I can highly recommend the Swiffer.

Is it to be assembled by sliding the dust pad through the slots in one flat piece?

Yes, the two prongs slide either side of the central part. Very easy to do. After years of avoiding dusting, I enjoy doing it. I keep one handy just to flick round. That’s about keenness, not inefficiency of duster or my dusting.

Can I wash the duster?

Yes, hand wash and allow to air dry overnight. Have washed mine using a 'drop' washing up liquid and luke warm water.
