I bought this mostly for the deadcat to use on my ride videomic pro and it does a terrible job at cutting the wind. I used it over the foam cover that ride makes and it still had almost no effect in very light wind. I would save your money and buy the one from rode or a different brand if you want to actually reduce wind noise

This fits the old video mic pro

This set of 2 microphone accessories consists of a foam mic cover and a "dead cat" cover. The foam cover is not a perfect fit, but fits fairly well on my Rode Videomic Pro and is great for indoor use. The dead cat on the other hand, is too small to fit over the foam cover, but so large that it falls off the mic if it is used without the foam cover. Considering that the dead cat will be used exclusively outdoors, I worry about losing it if it falls off the shaft of the microphone. However, the dead cat does do an effective job of silencing wind noise, so there is a tradeoff.
