How far forward does this come when extended?

My table top now lifts up 6 inches and out about 10 inches.

Mine seem to not want to close? Anyone else have this problem?

What are the lengths of the base and top brackets? Trying to use with a smaller project.

Base is just a hair over 7 inches and top is 8.5 inches
