Liftmaster 841LM Automatic Garage Door Lock

Easy fix

Was delivered on time, and I had no problems installing on track. My garage track already had the predrilled holes on them, so all I had to do was screw the device in. The lock works great, easy to install and I will buy a 2nd for the other side. I recommend this lock if your LiftMaster has the shield icon, it does add more security to the garage door from being lifted. Once I press the garage button, the lock automatically unlocks and when it’s closing, the bolt engages and locks.

This an original Lift Master part. The other ones that are being sold are not original equipment and don’t last very long. I could tell right when I installed this it was better.

The latching garage door lock works well as an option to have wifi locks on a roll up door. The locks are wired to a circuit that switches 12v with 2 amps and the app used is a simple Wemo or Leviton app for a plug. When the plug is on the locks are open. When power is off they close. The code was written such that if the power is lost the locks will engage. The locks have a manual latch as well in case the wifi goes out.

I am on my third lock. Bought this August 8, 2022. Today, May 7, 2023, it no longer works. Find another type of lock if that is possible or you will be replacing this every year and a half to 2 years.

Product received is OEM, but is repackaged and not as advertised. Two major differences that matter. Screws received were not original but replacements with raised flat-heads (versus just flat heads), this reduces clearance. Wiring on the unit received was NOT 33' (10m), and was about 12', so I had to splice wires to install properly. Because this is a 'repackaged' new unit, likely no manufacturers warranty. I understand this Garage Door Lock comes bundled with a specific model Garage Door Opener that is frequently 'sold on the side'. That said, it is new, does work once you overcome the challenges.

My original door lock (3 years old ) started to fail to unlock even though it was ok to lock. I understand this is not uncommon with this device and I am concerned that the new one will not last more than a few years based on other reviews. However, it is very easy to replace. I took one star off due to the expected lifespan.

The item arrived damaged and never worked correctly. If the item is damaged, there is no refund directly from the seller. They insist you work with the manufacturer. The manufacturer's warranty only covers replacement, and they have no coverage for the extra service costs. I do not recommend this item or its sellers.

Defective product sent and seller would not return product
