On another trip, we used Rick Steves' ROME to find a place to stay and transportation from Rome to the port. Excellent information. Affordable lodging. Great driver to and from the port. And then, to top it off, Rick Steves just happened to be on the same cruise! Needless to say, when we were ready to visit Amsterdam for the first time, we purchased a copy of his pocket guide. Excellent every step (literally ... STEP) of the way! Amsterdam is a great place to visit, very tourist friendly, and incredibly easy to get around with Rick Steves' guidance. Review: Perfect guide - We stayed 4 nights, and had 3 full days in Amsterdam. This pocket book was invaluable. Each day we completed one of the walking tours, visited a museum, and then enjoyed Amsterdam for the rest of the night. I felt like we saw a good portion of the city within a short amount of time and within our budget. We used a Lonely Planet guide for another city on our trip and were disappointing in the quality compared to this Rick Steve's guide. At times, the use of ordinal.directios was confusing, as I did not always know what they were (no compass).
