Great product for the price. Rarely do I run this problem, but some of them may not fit uncertain strap knobs. Other than that, they work flawlessly and I still have yet after a year and a half or two years of using these things have I had to run in to the problem of them falling off they were terrifically. And I even just found out recently. They are able to hold your cord in place as well as to not drag or step on it.

First off, these are made in China. I didn't see that in the listing. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought them. I don't deliberately buy ANYTHING made in China because of their human rights violations. If this were 1941 would you be buying anything made in Germany? China is doing worse to millions of their people. I opened the package and put them on my electric guitar. It has a thick leather strap. I tried yanking the strap off by pulling upward as if trying to remove the strap. It remained in place. So these really work. They do seem a little loose. It is doubtful that they could move to the exact position that would allow the strap to come off. Just to be sure, check them every once in a while. These are easily removable. My guitar stays in a gig bag. Which means they don't need to be removed to fit inside. If you've ever hung a clock or some kind of wall mounted smoke detector, you've seen the key hole style mount. These have that. To remove the strap, the button must be shifted to the larger part of the key hole. Then it can be lifted. To do this, the cable holder must be lifted to allow the button to shift. That is why it is doubtful that these would ever allow the strap to come off without you deliberately lifting that cable holder. This is a great invention. As long as the plastic doesn't get weak and break, it should work. A spring metal version would never break. They don't make those yet. D'addario, MAKE THIS IN THE U.S.A. PLEASE.

I've used other strap locks in the past, both for acoustic and electric guitars. Some good, many others not so much. I didn't really expect much from these given the inexpensive price. Admittedly, I incorrectly assumed that these would be metal; some sort of spring steel. I was shocked when they arrived and I saw that they were completely made of plastic. However, they appear to be very durable, and quite springy. My issue is always the same: I use a wide, thick suede strap on my guitar (in this case an acoustic). I have had issues over the past with the strap suddenly deciding to pop off. It seems that the older any leather strap gets, the more likely this is to happen. So using these strap locks I immediately noticed how incredibly easy it was to put onto the endpin, over the strap. At first I was concerned about snapping the unit in half (it is plastic, after all), but that never happened. Instead it slid on smoothly, locking in a shockingly secure position. Once installed the strap lock is literally locked over the endpin, and unable to slip off on it's own. My only concern here is that the endpin doesn't work itself free, since it's just a tapered pin, sort of an "interference fit". So far this hasn't happened. I honestly feel that to date this is the superior design when it comes to strap locks. It's quite clever, and quite a minimalist design. I recommend it.

I had considered installing Schaller strap locks but I don't like the fact that the strap has to be removed when using them when the guitar is put in it's case because the button sticks way out. If it fit at all (doubtful), it would damage the lining of a case. Besides, I really don't play standing up much. So I ordered these. But before doing so, I wanted to make sure they WEREN'T made out of steel (spring steel). I didn't want steel because it can scratch the endpins (mine are gold plated) and I just don't like metal near my guitar. (I am amazed that some people actually put metal studded straps on fine guitars.) There are plastics these days that are incredibly strong and these are made of such a plastic. It stapped on my endpins with authority and with no movement or rattle (like Schaller or Dunlop strap locks). And being plastic, I don't have to worry about scratching the gold off my endpins. My strap is on the thick side and these snapped on perfectly and I have absolutely no concern that they will fall off. On top of all that, I saved over $20. Now, if you are a professional performing on stage frequently, a Schaller or Dunlop straplock may be better for your needs because you can remove and install the straps very quickly. But for my use, these locks are perfect.

These are good strap locks and work just as well as the washer-type strap locks from Fender. However, they do not seem to work any better than the Fender strap locks, and with the clip-type mechanism to get the strap locks on and off, they are slightly more difficult to get on than the washer-type strap locks. They are also more expensive- these cost about $4 for one pair of them, while Fender charges $3 for 2 pairs of the washer-type strap locks. The one advantage these have over the washer-type strap locks is that they have a loop to run your guitar cable through to put it out of your way. I haven't found a need to put the cable out of my way like this yet, but if you like having the cable looped up like this, then the slightly extra cost along with the slightly more difficulty in securing them to your guitar might make these worth it. They also do rotate freely when on your guitar, but this does not seem to affect how secure they keep the strap. Overall, I recommend saving money and getting the washer-type strap locks from Fender since they do the same thing for less and are easier to put on your guitar, but if you like looping your cable on your guitar, then these are the strap locks for you. Note that I have tried these on an Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro, an Epiphone SG Special, and a Gibson SG Faded, and they have successfully fit over the strap buttons on all these guitars.

The strap locks are called Planet Waves, but the packaging and strap locks are actually branded D'Addario - the parent company. Tested with a Squier Strat (14 mm diameter strap button), Epiphone Les Paul (14 mm diameter strap button), Gibson Les Paul (15.3 mm diameter strap button), PRS Custom 24 (15 mm diameter strap button). Worked on all of them, even when combined with a very thick leather strap. Very nice indeed. By comparison, the twist-style Dunlop strap lock could only work with a thin strap on the Strat or Epiphone, but not the others. Hole for the strap button to go into is 16.4 mm wide, but the button then needs to fit into a cup with a diameter of 15.5 mm (so 15.5 mm is the maximum diameter of your strap button). Hole for the strap button's neck is 9.3 mm (so that is the maximum width of the neck of your strap button - the part where the strap sits). This means that it will even work with some electro-acoustics where the jack and strap button are combined, but you will need to measure the neck of your button to make sure that yours is narrow enough. (This also sets the minimum width of the strap button, but that measurement is more complex, since it would need to be the width between one side of the button's neck, and the far side of the button's head. Quite simply; very few standard strap buttons are small enough to be a problem.) Plastic is 1.7 mm thick, so you need that much free space for it to fit between the strap and the button head. If you want to use it for holding a guitar cable, the cable slot is 6.4 mm wide at its narrowest point, so that's the maximum diameter of the cable. A 7 mm thick cloth-covered cable could be forced through with difficulty, but any thicker and it would cause the clip to remain open, allowing it to unclip from the guitar. Easy enough to fit with thin straps. Needed a bit more care to fit it with a thick leather strap (but even coped with a large, padded strap). Easier to use than the Dunlop twist style strap lock, and cannot accidentally be twisted off either. With thicker straps, it can press the leather strap onto the guitar finish, and over time may cause rubbing. Locks very well, not brave enough to test swinging the guitars over my head, but it doesn't feel like it could ever come off by accident, so it's much better than the Grolsch-style rubber washers. However, it is important that you keep the wire-slot side of the clip facing down towards the ground when you are holding the guitar; away from the guitar strap (the direction it would naturally be if you have a cable going through it). If you rotate it the other way up (so that the wire slot is aimed upwards towards your shoulder), then pull the guitar strap outwards, the stress from the strap gets put against the wire slot, which can cause it to unclip. Attached a picture to show this.

I got 10 to cover my 8 guitars and have some hot spares. I wanted it mainly as Cable Holder and secondarily as Strap Locker. They fit all well to all kind of my guitars, LesPaul, Strat, Tele. The fact that it catches exactly at the "button" of the instrument and not at the strap, as other "dedicated cable holders" do, is very convenient for me. Being a dual-practicality item, Strap Locker AND Cable Holder AND also at this price is a Win-Win purchase for any guitarist (at least an amateur like me, I don't know what the on-stage ones are doing).
