Lola is a complex character, she’s got a lot of family drama going on and she takes it all on her shoulders. She’s a loving and loyal person but it’s also her downfall.. she doesn’t know how to put herself first. Ben is the owner of the tattoo shop that resides next to Lola’s bakery. From their very first meeting the two of them find things to fight about. But you know how the saying goes… it’s a fine line between love and hate. Things turn hot and heavy between the two of them, especially after Ben learns Lola is in trouble.One thing that did drive me a bit crazy was the constant repeating of “Old Lola/New Lola” like we get it, she’s trying to be a new version of herself. But constantly talking about herself in the third person that way got on my nerves after a while.I was really happy to see the relationship between Ben and his family improve. And the extended epilogue was a sweet look into their future. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Meh *by C***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on October 17, 2022* Honestly, this wasn’t for me. It took me 6 days to drag myself through it. The main character Lola is the childish, annoying, self deprecating, self proclaimed protector of her family. She’s a character with so much inner monologue i wanted to scream.it’s not even inner monologue with a purpose, it’s just her repeating the same things over and over again about how now she’s new Lola with a new lease on life who will stand up for herself and she’s no longer old Lola who covered up her dad‘s gambling addiction. And then she meets her grumpy neighbor Ben. While Ben’s character is way more tolerable, he’s a cringy dominant daddy from Wattpad.he’s controlling an over protective, with a female sidekick named Hattie, who was a likable character. I just couldn’t connect with a main character that was so meek and honestly, pathetic. there was little to no action or excitement in this plot. I could see the idea being good but it just wasn’t put together in an interesting way for the story. The plot fizzles out about 1/4 of the way through this book. However, the spicy epilogue was good. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Book love the chemistry *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 16, 2022* I absolutely love the chemistry that Ben and Lola have with each other. At their first interaction you can tell that they are meant to be more. Lola is loyal to a fault for her family even when they don’t deserve it but over time thanks to Ben she sees that it’s ok to accept being taken care for by someone else. Ben character grows as to always never judge a book by its cover. Both characters have family issues but they stand up for each other because they see each other strengths when everyone else doesn’t.
