Good Quality but REALLY heavy, Updated to 5 Stars on 7/29/2013 after getting sharpened
update 07/29/2013 I have decided to keep these, I found someone to have them "PROFESSIONALLY" sharpened and they work great now. I still think factory seconds though, so did the person who sharpened my scissors BUT, he said Gingher is one of the best made out there, so I have also bought dressers shears and a pair of serrated for silks and fine fabrics. Will review when I get them. He also could not believe that I only paid $18 for these as they are over $100 in sewing stores, if they even carry them, but can special order. I paid $25 for the sharpening!! LOL I will say that the actual metal is of high caliber as is the mold, each scissor side is one piece, which is important. You can also adjust the tension by the bolt. Also, many complain about the fabric not cutting properly and you will see this issue on ALL reviews for ALL pinking shears, you need to hold the fabric correctly and adjust the scissors if using heavy weight and really light such as bulky Denim to light organza. Pinking shears have never been easy to use but I can say that these will and should last a lifetime. Still, I would not pay over around $20 for these scissors, if I want the top I would do more research and try to find them at the best price. I have bought three of these, the pinking shears, dressmakers shears and serrated edge for fine fabrics such as satin and silks. It looks like "KAI" might be the top scissors as far as qauality that I can find with quick research, but a lot more money. ________________ UPDATE 07/10/2013 This is an ok product and I am taking it down from 4 stars to 3 stars. I think this is a factory reject because it DOES NOT cut fabric if you put it all thway up to handle area. You have to keep the fabric at the 1/2 way or 3/4 way mark on the scissor blades. I will complain and see if I can get a refund with shipping as shipping them will cost quite a bit as they are very heavy. Not that happy with the purchase, I would suggest buying either another brand or this brand but a different style. Very bummed out. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Good Quality but REALLY heavy so giving it 4 instead of 5 stars, and I mean really, really heavy. BUT, it is constructed well and is of very high quality. You ALWAYS want to buy metal scissors that are forged as one piece for each blade. When you buy ones that have the blades fitted into plastic handles they are usually of cheaper material and should cost A LOT less as the cost to produce is cut in half for materials. The same thing with knives, the kind you use to cook with, you want to see one solid piece of metal from tip to end and a handle wrapped around it. Like Hinkle knives. You also need to start cutting at the beginning of the fabric as it tends to fold it otherwise, as you cut. If it keeps doing that I will update the review and send it back. The only thing I would recommend to the manufacturer is to lighten up in the handles, it will be more manageable, especially those with arthritis in their hands like me. BUT, "Gingher" is QUALITY, and at the price that I bought them I am thrilled. I just hope they are not at a discount because of flaws while being produced. Only time will tell.

Cut well and did not bind up
Good price on a good pair of pinking shears. My best sewing scissors is also a Gingher and I have been happy with them over the years. They are heavier then the other popular brand but I like the weight. I have had other pinking shears that did not cut well so I thought I would try these. They cut easily through lightweight fabric and medium weight fabric. It cut not frayed or got stuck. I have not tried a heavy fabric yet. If you like a little heavier scissors or prefer metal shears I think you would like them. This brand has been a favorite of mine for many years I feel like I will be happy with these also

Real Gingher shears from Zipperstop
I never write reviews but I felt compelled after reading so many mixed and confusing reviews on these and other pinking shears. I did not know when I needed to replace my pinking shears it was going to be such an ordeal. Mine were super old, they were my grandmothers. They started just shredding or folding the fabric instead of cutting it. It wouldโve cost me more to have them sharpened than to replace, which isnโt exactly a deal breaker but when the plastic handle broke off they really became unusable. I bought the only pair my local Joann store carried, I believe they were Fiskars, but their lower end brand I canโt remember the name. They โcutโ worse than the pair I was replacing!! Theyโd only cut paper. So not sure why they were being sold as fabric shears. Since Joann had no other to exchange with I looked on amazon. Every pair had a mixed review! So I donโt know if some people who gave a good review were just cutting paper or what. I rolled the dice and ordered these Gingher pinking shears. BUT I carefully selected which seller I bought from. I bought from zipperstop, which I know is a legit sewing supply store in New York. My shears arrived in two days, I donโt even have prime! They were brand new, made in Italy, not factory seconds. They cut multiple layers of different types of fabric like a champ. I highly recommend these shears and zipperstop as a seller. Hope this helps you!

Best pinking shears I've found
Not sure what others are complaining about, first of ALL pinking shears suck. They are all heavy and awkward but these live up to the gingher name and glad I bought them. They do a great job and are sharp.

Pinking shears for thin fabric
Not as sharp as I anticipated. I needed to cut through a thick tapestry and had a hard time. Cuts great through regular cotton fabric.

An Absolute Must-Have for Anyone Who Sews
My old Wiss pinking shears have lived a useful life, but are no longer sharp and no one sharpens scissors any more. I decided to treat my self to a pair of Ginghers because I've always known the company makes a quality product, but haven't been able to afford them until recently. What a treat! These scissors cut through fabric with no effort and are a wonderful tool for anyone who sews. Further, Gingher will sharpen them, when necessary and guarantees them for life. I was fortunate enough to purchase my Ginghers from an Amazon partner at an unbelievable price. I've also noticed that one can sometimes get a bargain from several on-line auction sites, but if you need pinking shears and can't or don't want to fool around with an auction, these are definitely worth paying full price for.

Made for Fiskar, and not well.
Arrived in a plastic carton, with "gingher.com Manufactured for: Fiskars Brands, INC" on the back. "Made in Italy" didn't save them from leaving the factory in defective working condition. The blades bind against each other right out of the package. I'm not buying a new Gingher anything that I have to take directly to a repair person, or risk voiding my warranty trying to fix it myself. Coincidentally in the last few days also bought other Gingher items: Left-handed Rotary Cutter - "Custom manufactured by world renown craftsmen for Gingher Made in China" Different address and contact phone number. Arrived in the expected tin. Even though made in China, appears to be well crafted. My first one of these type of tools, so no idea what I'd look for, just went on prior experience with the Gingher brand. Self-Healing Cutting Mat - "Custom manufactured by world renown craftsmen for Gingher Made in Taiwan" Same address and contact phone number as the rotary cutter. Looks good, one tiny ding, might have been during storage/shipping. My first one of these type of mats, so no idea what I'd look for, just went on prior experience with the Gingher brand. So, in theory there are still quality Gingher items being made, but these pinking shears are not one of them, anymore, after the Fiskar merge. Returning these, sorry Amazon. Will be looking for some other seam finishing method, or search for the old used versions that work.

Somewhat disappointed and schocked
I had high hopes for these pinking shears since I read a lot about how these were the "ultimate" pinkers. They are good shears but definitely did not match up to my Fiskars soft grip. The Gingher are less sharp and shorter in length. They do seem durable and long lasting scissors so someone will enjoy them. It is possible I may have gotten a duller pair or a "lemon" so they call it. Who knows?. Just be warned.
