![The Mummy (2017) [DVD]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/818YsSlXFnL.jpg)

Tom Cruise stars in this spectacular version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy. Thought safely entombed deep beneath the desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day. Her malevolence has grown over millennia and with it come terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sands of the Middle East through modern-day London, The Mummy balances wonder, thrills, and imagination. Review: SOFIA BOUTELLA'S PERFORMANCE IS EPIC & EXOTIC. - EXCELLENT 4K UHD TRANSFER OF THIS FILM & A LOT IF SCENERY, LANDSCAPES, ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE, PROPS & SPECIAL EFFECTS THAT LEND ITSELF AS ONLY A UHD RESOLUTION BLU-RAY COPY COULD. SOPHIA BOUTELLA'S PERFORMANCE IS CONVINCING AS THE CURSED PRINCESS, SHE'S EROTIC, MYSTICAL, SEDUCTIVE & DANGEROUS. SHE'S TAKES THE LEAD IN THIS FILM WHILE TOM CRUISE ET AL, BECOMES HER PLAYTHINGS. SURPRISINGLY GUEST PERFORMANCE BY RUSSELL CROWE IN A TWIST AS DR. JEKYLL & HIS ALTER EGO MR. HYDE. COOL MOVIE & LOOKS AMAZING BRINGING THE THEATER EXPERIENCE TO LIFE IN UR OWN LIVING ROOM SANS U HAVE GOOD ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT..... BRAVO.. Review: A very enjoyable movie - I was wondering if I would watch this, as critics savaged it, but I really enjoyed it. Another great performance by Tom Cruise, and the other actors were well cast, especially Russel Crowe and the beautiful woman playing the five thousand year old bad date from Hell. There are some nice touches put in the film to remind the viewer of the other great Mummy movie starring Brandon Frasier.

Not the best movie ever made
Let me start off by saying I'm not a big Tom Cruise fan. I never have been, and don't expect to be in the future. I respect the great effort he puts into these movies by actually flying the planes himself, doing dangerous stunts himself, ect. He just doesn't hit me is an actor. For example, Denzel Washington in The equalizer movies. Or, Keanu Reeves in the John wick franchise. They don't really appear to be acting, whereas no matter what Tom Cruise does (in my opinion), he just looks like he's acting. This movie started out fairly well (I don't really expect much from a zombie movie these days) but it started to lose its way approximately halfway through the movie. I won't go into detail (don't want to spoil it for those that haven't seen it), but I will say this. I have bought movies that really disappointed me, and I threw them in the trash. This movie, again, in my opinion, is a keeper... But just barely. When I finished watching it, I was going to throw it away. But I remembered a few scenes that I enjoyed. So for a few minutes it was a balancing act: trash can or keep. In the end I decided to keep it. Make no mistake about this decision, it wasn't quick by any means. I changed my mind four or five times during the next two to three days. But, if you like Tom Cruise I'm sure you'll like this movie.

Awesome Movie!
I pretty much knew I’d enjoy this film, but I was pleasantly surprised at just how amazing it actually was. The first thing that demands a mention, is that Sofia Boutella was absolutely phenomenal and I hope we see her in more fantasy/horror genre movies. Her portrayal of Princess Ahmanet was pure masterpiece. Ahmanet’s character and story draws you in through several means, from intrigue, anger and mystery, to fear, suspense and even empathy for her. I found it quite refreshing to see that even though Tom Cruise (of whom I a big fan) was the leading man here, it was Boutella’s Ahmanet who held the power, the control, and as the central character, could even make Tom’s character, Nick Morton, her play-thing. With stunning good looks and a sultry sinister approach that could disarm any man, Ahmanet shows clearly throughout the film, who is in control. Meanwhile, Tom’s portrayal of an often befuddled, occasionally even comical soldier Nick Morton, struggling to make sense of what’s happening and dealing with the feeling of powerlessness in the face of Ahmanet’s power, was a delightful divergence from the always-kickin-ass-and-sure-of-himself characters that Cruise so often plays. Cruise did an excellent job selling it, and it honestly makes me like him all the more as one of our era’s greatest actors. I thoroughly enjoyed how the film included a certain Dr. J as well as hints and easter eggs of other fantastic legendary characters (as well as nod to the 1999 Mummy film via a certain relic). And the weaving together of the Crusades history (a hat tip to Templar legends) and Egyptian mythology (minus the not-so-minor Set/Anubis error which nonetheless doesn’t detract from the film) was a delightful and captivating story-line. I don’t want to get into spoiler territory, so I’ll leave it at that and simply add that the writing was very well done, with plenty of nuggets and nuance that created an excellent plot, story progression, and character development (I suspect much of the criticism of this film is due to critics completely missing this nuance). The visual effects of the movie were excellent and help create exactly the right amount of dark atmosphere and eye candy for the fantasy/horror fan, with plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments for a full action/suspense experience. In summary: Really awesome movie and worth numerous viewings. Even if you’re not a Tom Cruise fan, leading lady Sofia Boutella’s incredible portrayal of Ahmanet makes this a must see – if nothing else, watch it and admire her excellent work. For me, this movie is one of my favorites in this genre. Five stars and beyond.
