Youngtown 12888 Clock Mechanism 13/64" Thread Battery Operated Replacement

Our tabletop clock stopped working and we were really struggling to find a replacement the right size and the right style. Bought this kit to see if I could fix the existing clock, and it was perfect! It’s quiet and easy to use. Installation was quick and straightforward with multiple options for hand lengths. And it keeps great time! It turned out to be just what we needed.

So far, so good. It was as close to the original as I could find and it is working overnight and keeping time. The original died after a number of years and we loved the clock, so finding this as a replacement was great. I hope that it lasts half as long as the original, and the it continues to keep time.

Fixed!! This item allowed me to repair my 12" clock and I was able to keep it for less than $10, you can't beat that. My old one kept stopping even though I was replacing batteries way too often. I thought I would try to open it up and lubricate it but that didn't work, these mechanisms don't need that, there is only a few nylon gears and they flew apart and I wasn't fixing it so this replacement is perfect. Just make sure you get the right shaft length which was a little confusing in the descriptions of various sub models. I couldn't use the little metal bracket & rubber washer but I got it to fit just like the old one. Also I couldn't use the original hands and had to use the ones that came with the new device but it looks fine and I'm happy.

What a great replacement! I bought this clock from a thrift store years ago and I really like it. It had a leaked battery in it when I bought it but after a cleanup it worked fine for a few years. Out of nowhere it stopped keeping time. An hour here, two hours there. I couldn't bring myself to throw it in the trash. Thats where this clock kit comes in! It has everything you need, including hands for three different sized clock faces and is super easy to replace! Its been a week and its keeping perfect time.

This clock mechanism was an absolute lifesaver. It came with the movement and three different sizes of hands, which made it easy to find the perfect fit. One set was exactly right for a clock my husband made for me 40 years ago. When the original hands got damaged while I was moving the clock, I was completely devastated. Thankfully, this mechanism and the hands turned out to be a perfect match. Installation was straightforward, everything fit beautifully, and the clock is now back to working as it should. Seeing it running again means so much to me. The fact that this fixed such a sentimental piece for less than $10 makes it even better. I couldn’t be happier and highly recommend this to anyone needing to repair or restore a special clock.

Seems like a decent product, but the shaft that secures it to the clock face is too short, doesn't go through far enough to secure with nut. Otherwise, would have been a decent replacement. Clock I wanted to use this on is about 1/4" thick, so need about 3/8" on threaded shaft for it to work.

I ordered this to replace the failed mechanism on my 15.5" diameter Mickey Mouse Glass Wall Clock. I knew that the thread length was correct but that the shaft was too long. I could not find a mechanism that had both the correct thread length and the correct shaft length. I was able to make it work by removing the grommet on the minute hand. I wanted to use the old hands, not the included new ones, because they are Mickey's hands. So, after a little tweaking it is working fine. Some reviews complain about the ticking level. I find it to be the same as the old mechanism. The clock may now be running a little slow due to the heavy hands on this clock, but I will have to see if that causes the mechanism to fail quickly. A good buy for $10 to fix an expensive clock. Before and after images attached.

Clear instructions. Easy to install. A favorite clock that sat in the garage for 10+ years due to a bad mechanism, is back on the wall and appears to be keeping perfect time. I had to put my ear next to the to hear it working. Great purchase.

Tried bringing my wall clock into a watch repair shop but they didn’t want to handle it, so I decided to try and repair it myself. Amazon had a great selection of different clock mechanisms, so picking the right one was easy. Would definitely do this again.

Delivery was fine and items supplied looked good, easy to install. Worked perfectly for a few days then died completely, changing battery made no difference.
