What country is the lacquer applied in?** A: I only purchased the straw set...I don't know the answer, but the seller should...weird Amazon sent me your question. I got them & they are very nice but your question is a good one. Sorry I can't help **Q: Where are these made?** A: COPPER METAL STRAWS (2nd word in the product description) **Q: Can these also be used for eliminating germs & the flu ?** A: I don’t think so, as the outer part is lacquered. So germs should be able to get on the outside. As for pure copper on the inside, I’m not sure if there would be enough contact time for it to do anything. **Q: Are they dishwasher safe?** A: I’ve never put them in the dishwasher. They’re so fine, i just wah them by hand... stand them up in a glass, poue boiling water over them & lay them to dry.
