Product Description Quest for Camelot (WBFE) (DVD)Journey back to a time of brave knights and noble deeds, of wizards and fabulous creatures in the magical, animated Arthurian legend, Quest For Camelot.A fair maiden who longs to be a knight, despite her sex and the admonition of her mother ... A handsome hermit whose blindness blocked his aspiration to a life of heroic deeds ... An evil knight who steals the King's sword, Excalibur. Now an unlikely duo ventures forth with the blessing of Merlin the Magician to reclaim Excalibur, facing a comical two-headed dragon, an evil griffin and rescuing a damsel in distress along the way.]]> desertcart.com Following their animated/live action hit Space Jam, Warner Bros. jumped into the fully animated feature competition by playing it safe, giving the Arthurian legend a conspicuously Disneyesque facelift. Ingredients from Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Pocahontas are evident in the tale of a girl named Kayley (Jessalyn Gilsig) whose father, a Knight of the Round Table, is killed by Sir Ruber (Gary Oldman), a maniacal brute who steals Excalibur and threatens to seize King Arthur's Camelot. Kayley enlists the blind, reclusive knight-aspirant Garrett (Cary Elwes) to brave the Enchanted Forest and retrieve the magic sword, and their adventure is (of course) fraught with danger. Adding extra punch to the movie's commercial appeal, the soundtrack songs are performed by big names like LeeAnn Rimes and Celine Dion. And if that's not enough to hold a kid's attention, there's a two-headed dragon ("we're the reason cousins shouldn't marry") voiced by Eric Idle and Don Rickles. With so much talent involved, it's entertaining but uninspired, although cleverly harmless riffs from Dirty Harry, Taxi Driver, and other movies spice up the adventure with enjoyable pop-culture references. --Jeff Shannon Review: Great movie! - Talk about nostalgia! Hadn't seen this movie for years. If memory serves I watched it when it came out on VHS in the 90s. I owe a lot of my success as a professional musician/opera singer to the title song "The Prayer". Brings back fond memories. A great family movie for the kiddos to enjoy! Review: Great walk down memory lane. Awesome movie. - I watched this as a kid and when I realized I couldn’t stream it without purchasing it, I decided to buy the physical dvd instead of the streamed download version. So happy I did. How nostalgic it was to watch this film with my own two kids all these years later and see their joy as they experienced it for the first time. The dvd itself has a few fun extras too which my kids enjoyed.

Quest for Truth, Quest for Fun!
I highly recommend this movie! It's not often that a movie comes around with a solid moral center as well as a lot of good songs and great fun! Although this is based on the legend of King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table, the similarity is pretty loose. That's okay because the spirit of the Round Table--truth, justice, peace, cooperation, love, etc. are all firmly intact. The heroine is a nicely realized girl who learns from her father's example to accept the spirit of the Round Table. She is both determined and tough and yet she learns to temper that with gentleness and sensitivity. She meets the blind hero who is a hermit and a misanthrope and HE learns the value of working together, friendship and true love. I was very impressed with the style of the film as well. The colors, the "special effects" (if that's what you call them in an animated film), the music and songs, the vocal talents--it all comes together beautifully! A note of caution for parents of younger children--be SURE to watch this first before you let your kids see it as there are a number of menacing scenes which could give them nightmares. They are well balanced with humorous scenes and the triumph of good over evil in the end. I thought this was well worth the price!

A good family movie
I liked this movie - not sure if I'll watch it again, but I liked it. Pros: It's very family-friendly and cute as it is also a 'sing-along' kind of movie. The artwork is unique and beautiful (for something from 1998) and the plot is certainly unique (but perhaps not all the inspired). The music score is decent, but such as to be expected from a kids movie. Cons: About the first 30-40 minutes of the movie is filled to the brim with musical sing along scores. They're alright but most seem fairly extraneous and get annoying after the first 20 minutes. There doesn't seem to be too much plot/character development in this (which, keep in mind, IS a children's movie...) which bothers me just a bit. Conclusion: A cute film - not a bad one, not a great one, but one I probably wont refer back to often. Good for children, not so much for adults (or teens).

- Daher klare Kaufempfehlung! ...Ich hoffe ich konnte euch helfen :)
