My old track base was a full enclosed canister that did not accept LED and required an expensive odd peg legs bulb that took God's will to insert into the base. I finally cussed those things for the last time and replaced all 6 of them with these. Great decision! A lot of flexibility in where you can point the bulb and what kind of bulb you can use. I wanted a fixture that allowed the LED bulbs to breathe because I've had several of them go bad and I was told that with the large can fixtures, the heat builds up inside and that can cause issues with the bulbs. Plus, I can use any size bulb I want with these, instead of just the smaller ones. These are fairly easy to install, but can only go in the track one way. Be careful or it's easy to break them. Once in, they are simple enough to adjust, which is good because we change out our shows every three weeks so these get adjusted quite a bit. They are holding up well. I initially purchased just one of these as a tester and then when I ordered more, I was sent a different model that didn't work with the tracks I have. So, at this time, I only have one of these. Very pleased that heads are still being made for line-level J-tracks whose popularity peaked nearly 50 years ago. I threw away all the giant "cans" from the 1970s that made the track look ancient and replaced them with these. I found the tab that locks the unit into the track was very difficult to move down (to unlock, to reposition), so you should probably try to position these where you want them right away, or you may need lots of leverage to unlock them.
