Terracotta pots are noted for their porous sides and good drainage for plants, especially cacti and succulents which is exactly what I was looking for. I liked, too, that the pots came with saucers letting you water from below if that's what you want to do. My concern wasn't about the product's functionality. If clay pots have a downside it's their fragility. Drop them and they're sure to break so my concern was: would they survive shipment in tact? All I can say is the pots came in the best packaging I ever saw for a fragile item. Both pots and saucers were embedded in a molded plastic foam so tightly that there was absolutely no way they could fall or rattle around in the packaging. And I truly believe even if you dropped the unopened package none of the pots would fracture or break. As to the pots themselves, the color is a bit paler than the darker red/brown pots you typically encounter, but that's the only difference I see between these and and just about any other clay pots of this size. What it all comes down to is it's a nice product at a good price.

The terra Cotta 4inch pots are what I wanted and exactly as pictured and described in the listing. They came stacked, with no cracks or blemishes. The 4 inch size is perfect for transferring seedlings after separating and gives them room to grow before planting outdoors. The clay is absorbent and allows me to saturate the pot in a small bowl of water for my plants rather than watering from above. I have found this helps avoid over watering and keeps the plants healthier. I like the natural color of the pot and found them easily painted for gifting. Excellent pots with adequate drainage, these are a good value for a group of six.

I ordered these to start herbs and small plants, and they’re exactly what I hoped for. The clay is smooth, sturdy, and none arrived chipped or cracked. They drain well and look pretty on a windowsill. Great value for the price!
