It's a brush. Not too soft or too firm. Just right. Small enough to pack and very sturdy. Bristles stay in place.

Okay so I got this for a relative with advanced dementia who began to brush their hair obsessively. Sometimes the hair-brushing went on for hours–using an old brush with stiffer bristles, which was causing scalp damage. It's hard to get excited about a brush but this Diane Club brush bristles are soft and stood up well to many, many hours of use.
