Once that happens hit any button on the remote and it will pair it with the control board. The instructions that come with the door have a diagram of the control box and will show where in there the correct button is to press as there are a few of them. **Q: Can this be retrofitted in a door with knob and deadbolt?** A: Not sure. To be legal with fire codes, the deadbolt would likely have to be removed. You need to check with local Fire Dept Inspector. There are security hole covers available on Amazon.com. Also, to insure this hardware will fit your application, I would suggest reviewing the install instruction sheet that is on the product page of Amazon.com. You should be able to copy and print that document and it will show you the required hole location and proper alignment of the panic bar. This conversion is somewhat complicated and you must verify all your dimensions before you start cutting holes... **Q: For the gccsj door push bar panic exit device, what is the maximum door thickness for the outside lock piece?** A: Not sure exactly but I used on a standard door and cut at least an inch off the rod that connects the locking mechanism through the door. **Q: Can push bar panic exit device be installed in standard 36" door?** A: Yes. It can be cut to fit 32"-36". it can be mounted on new doors or replace existing push bars.
