Zigbee Door and Window Sensor 3 Pack, Wireless Mini Contact Sensor

Two weeks in, running through HomeKit via an Aqara G410 doorbell as the Zigbee hub, with zero missed notifications or failed automation triggers so far. Aqara doesn't sell a security system, so this is a pure contact sensor: it reports open or closed and notifies you on status change, based on whatever alert settings you configure. Ease of use: setup is simple with one exception. Don't pull the battery-isolating tab and try to pair right away. Pull it, wait about a minute, then start pairing on the hub. Skipping that wait is what caused mine to need a couple of extra attempts before the doorbell recognized them. Once past that, adding them to HomeKit and building automations around them was straightforward. Battery life: too early to say. Two weeks isn't enough runtime to speak to this honestly, so I'm leaving it out rather than guess. They're small enough to disappear on a door frame, and the adhesive holds well enough that repositioning one lifted a thin layer of paint. My apartment's frame has decades of paint on it, so that's more about the frame than the sensor, but the adhesive is genuinely strong. I'd previously used Ring's contact sensors as part of a full Ring security system. The difference is scope: Ring's sensors are one piece of a monitored alarm setup with a siren option. These Aqara sensors don't do any of that: no monitoring plan, no alarm, just the open or closed signal feeding into HomeKit. If you want a sensor to build your own automations around, this does that well. If you want an actual security system, this isn't one. Pros: -Compact, barely noticeable on the frame -Simple HomeKit pairing once you follow the wait-before-pairing step -Two weeks, no missed events or automation misfires -No extra hub cost if you already own an Aqara doorbell hub Cons: -Pairing can take multiple attempts if you skip the post-tab-removal wait -Adhesive is strong enough to lift paint on repositioning (as evidenced in one of my photos) -Zero security-system functionality: sensor only, no monitoring or siren Bottom line: A solid, low-profile contact sensor for anyone in the HomeKit or Aqara ecosystem who wants open/close alerts and plans to build their own automations. Not a replacement for a monitored security system like Ring's; different category of product entirely. Still open: got a photo to attach? There's a lot to like about these little sensors, but a few things to note as well. First, I bought one of these to test before committing to putting them on all of my windows and doors. Worked great. I have now purchased several more sensors. I've seen recommendations that you don't pair your devices with the receiver until you have it near where the final install is located. It was explained that zigbee networks kind of self-sort and adjust power, channels, etc. based on the network signal. I have no idea if this is true, just passing it on. The Good: -- I connected these to Home Assistant via a Sonoff Zigbee USB receiver and ZHA integration. Home Assistant picked it up almost immediately upon putting it into pairing mode. -- The open/close signal is picked up within a fraction of a second. Very sensitive. -- There's a basic temperature sensor in the device that is reported back to HA. -- The devices report back LQI for your network. Kind of handy to know. -- However small you think these things are, you're wrong. They're smaller. I wouldn't call them non-descript, but they were significantly smaller than the devices they replaced. A quarter of the size. You can find the dimensions on the product page. The Less Than Ideal: -- Sometimes when I close my windows, the window "bounces" a little. Just enough for the sensor to "close" and then immediately "open" again even though the window is closed and properly seated. It's kind of annoying since the only way to see if this happened is to open the HA app and check the status. Maybe I should just pulse the lights in the room when it's been closed for 5 seconds. Anyways... -- There is only a small fraction of the information I would have preferred transmitted -- RSSI is not reported to HA. Not sure if this is a HA thing, Sonoff thing, ZHA thing, or Aqara thing. -- The temperature isn't very useful. It's the temperature of your door frame basically. I'm not entirely sure about the accuracy, but I have my doubts. The Ugly: -- The batteries that are shipped all show up as about 75% upon installation. Really annoying. But not a dealbreaker I suppose. The Undetermined: -- I've had these installed for 2-3 months. For the first month, several batteries went from "100%" to 77.5%. All have basically stayed at 77.5% for the entirety of the second and third months. Another went from "100%" to 55% in the first month. Another is at 65% after two months. There's no correlation between amount of use and battery life as of yet. My longest-lasting and first installed battery is also the battery with the highest amount of life left. --Update 10-28-2024: I have yet to replace the batteries in a single one of these. I have had three installed since May 2023, another three since July 2023, and couple of singles installed since. All are hovering between 50% and 70% battery remaining and have been flat since roughly November 2023. Bottom Line: I'd recommend them if you're looking for non-wifi, immediate signal, zigbee door/window sensors that are small. They tick just about every box you could need.

I returned Eve contact sensors in favor of these and I was not disappointed. They are super compact and the supported gap is surprisingly good - it was much needed for the shape of my door frames. I already had Aqara indoor cameras and a doorbell that came with a hub, so the Zigbee connection works great.

I bought these 6 months ago. They worked OK but would drop off the zigbee network every few weeks. I would pair them again and and they were OK for a while. About 6 or 8 weeks ago they started dropping every few days. Today they would not pair unless I took them to within a few feet of the hub. Then they could be taken to the normal location and worked through the zigbee mesh but less than an hour later they stopped detecting the door closing. The batteries were fine but I replaced them anyway and it didn't help. I have an Aqara button on the same Home Assistant ZHA, Sonoff coordinator system and it has been flawless for well over a year. I couldn't get through to support. I'll try again Monday. Update: I moved two of them to doors that were much closer to the hub. They worked and stayed connected. After a month one stop sensing the door opening and closing. It just always says closed. The temp and battery level still worked. I swapped it with the 3rd one. It worked for a while but today it just shows closed all the time. Very disappointing. No more Aqara devices for my smart home.

Easy to setup in home assistant with zigbee connection. Strong adhesive and small enough to be strategically positioned without being a visible eye sore.

I bought these because they're incredibly tiny and Aqara has a good reputation for seamless integrations with Home Assistant. (I don't use an Aqara hub or Alexa.) Pros: - They're very unintrusive. Being so small and rounded, you hardly even notice them. - Native Zigbee, so super low power and no proprietary hub needed. - Battery life, at least so far, has been decent: reporting about 65% after six months of use. Cons: - They were harder to connect than other Zigbee devices, requiring me to bring them very close to a relay or, if I'd already attached them to the door, plugging in a Zigbee outlet nearby temporarily. - They tend to disconnect slightly more often than other Zigbee devices, even in areas with very strong mesh coverage. Ultimately, I decided to go with Sonoff instead for the rest of alarmed doors. They're quite a bit larger, and the boxy shape catches the eye more, but they're much more reliable. And for something connected to my home security system, reliability is king. For interior doors that don't matter so much, I prefer these for their small size. They're great for non-critical automations like turning on the bathroom fan when the door closes, or adjusting thermostats depending on which doors are open.

I have about 30 of these sensors deployed between a couple of locations with Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT. They've been working without error for a year+ at this point. I've had...maybe three times I needed to visit a sensor to re-pair it to the Zigbee network. Fortunately, Z2M reports unavailable so I've never been surprised by a sensor being offline. Response times are incredibly quick, within a second. Battery life is excellent. Average of about 80% left on sensors that have been in service for a year. Included mounting stickers are more than sufficient. These live on some exterior doors and have gone through crazy temperature and humidity changes without issue. Overall, exceedingly pleased.

Autant vous dire que mon chez moi est maintenant plus surveillée que Fort Knox ! 😄 L'installation ? Un jeu d'enfant ! Les autocollants double face fournis font le job parfaitement. Si vos ouvrants sont assez épais, vous pouvez même poser le plus petit élément sur la tranche. La détection se fait de face ou à 90°, avec une distance max de 2 cm. Côté réactivité, ces petits bijoux sont plus rapides que l'éclair ⚡. Ouverture, fermeture, tout est détecté en un clin d'œil. Fiabilité 100%, pas de faux positifs ni de ratés. C'est du solide ! Maintenant, parlons autonomie. Les piles d'origine semblent s'épuiser assez rapidement, avec une baisse de 10 % en moins d'un mois. Bien que cela puisse être un problème avec les piles fournies, il est possible que d'autres modèles sur le marché offrent une meilleure autonomie. Pensez donc à prévoir des piles de qualité lors du prochain changement. Pour l'intégration, c'est un sans-faute. Je les ai branchés sur mon setup de pro : passerelle Zigbee 3 Sonoff, Raspberry Pi 3B, et Home Assistant. Ça fonctionne comme sur des roulettes ! Les possibilités d'automatisation sont infinies. Good connectivity and accuracy. It was easy and intuitive to add these to the Aqara hub and as secondary devices to HomeKit. The only issue I had was that two of them would not show as closed when installed on outer metal doors, and the adhesive strip did not allow repositioning. I added an extra layer of my own adhesive tape between the door and the sensors and they worked. The battery life has been great after a month.

Besonders praktisch finde ich, dass gleich zwei Ersatzklebestreifen beiliegen – ideal, falls man sie mal umpositionieren möchte. Auch der Preis ist für die gebotene Qualität und Funktion absolut fair. In Kombination mit den Aqara Thermostaten reagieren sie zuverlässig: Öffnet man das Fenster, wird automatisch die Heizung heruntergeregelt. Die Montage ist flexibel – man kann sie kleben, Kontakt daneben, 90° oder gegenüber- funktioniert alles. Insgesamt eine klare Kaufempfehlung für alle, die ihr Smart Home effizient erweitern möchten.
