Great all around CPU!
If you are looking to build or upgrade your computer, take at look at this CPU. It can do almost everything! I had an AMD FX8350 and decided I could no longer wait for AMD's Zen cpu to be released. I had to do thinking about getting this CPU and changing to the X99 platform as Intel recently released the Skylake series. I had to choose between Haswell (4790K or Xeon E3-1271 v3 ) and keeping my DDR3 ram; Haswell-E (5820K) and upgrading to DDR4 ram or (Skylake) 6700k and still needing to upgrade to DDR4. My PC is a daily driver that I also game on, some video encoding along with light photo and video editing. After looking at all the benchmarks and weighting the pro and cons I settled on the 5820k and could not be happier. I am able to overclock (settled on 4.3 @ 1.25 for stability and to keep heat down. I am still playing with this), which lessens the lead of single thread performance of the Skylake 6700k. I also like that I am getting 2 more cores that can speed up activities that can take advantage of more cores. Alot of the hitching I was having in games is reduced and gameplay feels smoother in general. The time to encode videos has really improved. This is a great all around CPU and can be the basis of a great machine! This might not be the CPU to get if you are mainly gaming, if you need more cores or the 40 PCIE lanes (as opposed to the 28 the 5820k offers), you are probably looking a the the 5930/5960 anyway.

Great, reliable, stable OC CPU for the price
Purchased this new from Amazon back in September for my new build. Using a Corsair H115i AIO. I'm really impressed with the 5820k. It wasn't my first choice, had my eye on a 5930k atleast, but do to my budget and reviews online, i pulled the trigger on the 5820k. So glad I decided I went with this one. I have mine OCd to 4.3Ghz with no issues and usually hovers around 50c-60c during full load. Yea it only has 28 PCIe lanes...but Im running a Nvidia 1080FE's in SLI and it handles any game I can throw at it. This CPU is really a great all around processor for a good price.I highly recommend to anyone that cant decide on a LGA2011v3 CPU. Like I said it only has 28 lanes and it does very well with my SLI setup. If you are doing M.2 or PCIe storage setups along with SLI, I would recommend a 5930k or better with 40 lanes. However, if you only want 1 GPU and the M.2 or PCIe storage, the 5820k can handle it with no issues.5820k @4.3Ghz/Asus X99AII mobo/32GB Crucial Billastix2400 RAM/ 2x 1080FE SLI/EVGA 1050watt PSU/ Thermaltake Core V51 case/ Samsung 850 SSS 250GB for boot/Seagate 2TB HDD.

The Sweet Spot for Intel CPUs
This is a real a real powerhouse of a CPU, with 6 cores and 12 logical threads, it just rips through anything I have thrown at it. This processor is very economical for the processing power and lanes you are getting, versus Skylake. This CPU will overclock with the best of them, so I am not missing Devil's Canyon, (which I also own), or Skylake. Yes, the X99 Chipset costs a little bit more, but DDR4 RAM is now about the same cost as DDR3.I was going to build a new Skylake rig, but with some research, (and for the money), I felt I was better spending it on an X99 rig. I went with an ASUS X99 Deluxe II Motherboard, which can easily overclock this CPU to high and stable levels. So, I feel like I got a 6 core Skylake for a slight premium, and let's not forget about the 28 PCI lanes as well. For the money, you cannot beat this CPU for the performance it offers.I also feel that for this time and place, this CPU is a better value than the new Broadwell-E CPU, which simply does not offer much improvement and does not seem to overclock as well, at least according to the few reviews I have read on it.

Great processor
What a great processor! You may or may not know, but the "K" makes this an unlocked processor. This is the next Gen processor which is the LGA 2011-V3 don't mistake this one with the LGA 2011. The packages are completely different and they're definitely NOT compatible. Also, if you purchase this processor remember that you will no longer be able to any DDR 3 RAM modules that you currently have.OK now to processor. It has 6 cores and 2 logical cores per physical core. I was able to overclock this processor to about 4GHz WITH water cooling. (See the Thermaltake extreme Cooling 3.0)The TDP is 140W so if you don't use water cooling you need to good CPU fan with great heat pipes. Again, I use water cooling since I don't like the "jet noise" of CPU fans. Here is a comparison of this Intel core i7 LGA2011-v3 and the previous generation i7 4820K LGA 2011 .I know I'm comparing an older core to a newer but I wanted to show the performance differences of the older 3.7 GHz to the newer 3.3 GHz.http://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2340&cmp[]=2030So you're definitely getting more bang for the buck by buying the newer package than the older core, but keep in mind that if you're buying this processor you also need to upgrade your motherboard and RAM.Hope this helps.

Faster then a speeding ticket!
This processor with motherboard replaced my 2006 model Dual Quad Core 64 bit 8 CPU mac pro. This system is wickedly fast compared to the old MAC pro. With the Intel I7 with a 1 terabyte SSD drive and 16 gigs of DDR4 2400 memory. The motherboard will support DDR4 3000 memory, but was prohibitively expensive. Makes this one fast High Performance Computer! I Compare this CPU to a Bugatti Veyron running on 2 cylinders. If you open Task Manager and then open Resource Monitor you will notice that most of your programs are running on 2 CPUs even though their are 12 CPUs. This is not an Intel issue but more of a software issue. The only program that will run all 12 CPUs on my desktop is Mathematica 10 and even then you have to run some code to get all 12 CPUs to work. Hopefully in the near future the programmers will run 64 bit code instead of 32. Great processor for the price!

Suggest highly for anyone building a computer right now
This product is amazing for it's price, and as others have said, is worth it to not spend $200 more for a marginal performance increase. Maybe if you were running dual+, high-end graphics cards, but this is going to do a lot that is thrown at it. Perfect price-to-value ratio currently. For cooling I went with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, works great for anyone looking for air cooling. Good benchmarks, and runs cool with my current cooling.Build:Thermaltake Chaser A71Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-EEVGA GeForce GTX760ASRock X99 Extreme44 x 4 GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series256 GB SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series SSD750W Corsair CX750Pros:New chipsetMobos are new to support new chipset familyDDR4 compatible (only DDR4, see cons)New enough to be top in class, 'old' enough to have been testedIntel!!Cons:None so far concerning performance and heatThe ONLY thing that I consider a con, is that you have to get DDR4, which is priced high since it's new. I consider DDR4 a blessing.Recommend openly to anyone looking to build.

Excelent for Photography Editing, ready for future versions of Adobe Software.
The new Intel Core i7 5820K its really powerfull, with 6 physical cores and 12 logical cores at 3.3 Ghz its the fastest proccesor I`d ever used. Its a shame that current software technology isnt taking advantage of it.Adobe Lightroom 5 and 5820K:I bought this to procces RAW files from multiple DSLR, since Im a full time event and wedding Photographer. About 5000 in average per wedding, and almost 1000 per typical events, and that is a lot of Files to feed the CPU.Since LR5 mainly uses CPU power, over GPU or whatever, the 5820K its the key component of my PC Build, and this thing delivers. More CPU power that LR5 can handle (that its the sad part).LR5 only uses at maximum 45% of the CPU power... mostly 25% only. So I`d reached the maximum speed of this software, cant run any faster, or at least my RAM, SSD and HDD cant feed him that fast. I hope that the future versions of Adobe Lightroom take the juice out of this awesome CPU.WARNING:Be advise, this CPU do not include Heatsink or Cooler Fan. Although this CPU doesnt generate much heat, and any cooler will do, I recommend to add at your cart the "Cooler Master EVO 212" Fan, it will keep the CPU cool even with a little overcloacking. If you are thinking in overcloaking the crap out of it, like 4.0 Ghzs (yes it can get to that), go for the "Noctua NH-D14".Enjoy the power!Build:Intel Core i7 5820K (at default)MSI X99S SLI PLUS MBG.Skill Ripjaws 16gbs 2300mhzSSD Samsung 850PROHDD 1TB WD Black Series (Raid 1)Cooler Master EVO212 (2 Fans)

Great CPU + Cost
Pros:-----*Hexacore for a reasonable price*Very good performance, especially if you use it for more than gaming (e.g. streaming, multimedia)*Decent overclockerCons:-----*Getting the overclock just right can be tricky and with uncore tossed into the mix, you really need to read up on the subject before attempting it. It's definitely not for newbies. While I listed performance as a pro, it's also a negative if you are a gamer. The reason I say this is because most games will not use 6 cores and you will end up with extra heat and less OC vs a devil's canyon processor that has 4 cores and can OC higher. So for pure gaming performance, you may end up getting more out of a devil's canyon cpu than this. Also be aware this CPU has limited PCI-e lanes so if you plan to add more than two GPUs, you'll need the 5930K or 5960X.Overall, very happy with the CPU. I've got mine overclocked to 4.4 GHz using an H100i and temps are pretty reasonable. I plan to build a custom watercooling loop which should help me get a bit more juice out of it. This particular sample of mine is a Malaysia one (december) and the uncore runs at 4.2 GHz which I'm really happy about.

Excelente procesador y a buen precio.

Best budget processor for cpu demanding tasks
Best 6 core processor if you are on tight budget/ could not afford to go for higher cores. I bought this for my rendering purpose and it is serving at its best. Go for this if you have CPU demanding tasks and tight on budget.

5820K
