The breeder assured me his litters were whelped on location at his farm, and all were temperament tested. He had a portfolio of his champion sired breeding that had gone on to be show and working boulders and such. We were initially impressed. During our interactions he seemed hesitant to let me fly out to his kennel to see the rock I was interested in. That should have been a red flag, but this was my first time purchasing a purebred stone. While his littermates were listed and sold at high prices, this one, as he told us, was not priced as extravagantly because its temperament assessment determined it had no show or working potential. A "family rock" as it was described; just what we were looking for. We eventually agreed he would ship it. When it arrived, the poor thing was in a makeshift crate with only some straw for warmth. Had soiled itself enroute as well.While we trained our rock from a pebble through registered obedience facilities, we have come to realize "family rock" turned out to be more like "problem rock". We have struggled to correct behavioral issues that are obviously the result of poor, possibly inbred, breeding practices. Most recently, my husband suffered a terrible and unprovoked bite.While it breaks our heart, we will have to euthanize our rock. It should never have to come to this.Do NOT buy from this rock "breeder". A Google of his name revealed this kennel has been in trouble in the past for rock-milling. Some were beyond saving and had to be reduced to gravel. So sad. I have learned my lesson, be it a hard learned one. The package arrived promptly and undamaged. The sole reason for three stars is the product itself. While I was not expecting much (it's a rock), I was aggravated by the size of it. When I opened the carrying crate I assumed that the sender forgot to include the pet (rock), but after further inspection, I noticed that it had slipped down under the bedding. The pet measures approximately 3/4" long by 1/2" wide. If you have it out and sneeze it could be lost forever.
