Review: Reliable and adjustable - I got one of these about a year ago to replace a cheap brake on a campus bike, and liked it so much that I got another one for my mountain bike build. These brakes are easy to maintain, requiring only a couple tools to completely overhaul it, let alone keep it running. I do notice that these brakes are noisy when they get wet, but otherwise are very quiet. The stopping power is great, and I feel I can go faster safely because I can rely on these brakes to stop me quickly. I have not used hydros, but when coupled with the speed levers from Avid, these have a lot of modulation. Installation is easy, and getting the rotors to not rub is simple. All the screws have thread locking material on them, and I have yet to worry about a screw coming loose. The set comes with all the hardware you need to mount to the front or the back, minus cables and housing. Once the pads start to wear down, it's just a simple matter of a click every few months to keep the pad clearance right. The only gripes I have with them is the rubber boot that wears out, but these could honestly run without them, and the noise when wet, which comes with the territory of disc brakes. These do take a bit to wear in, but once you get it, these brakes perform very well. I doubt that I will be using others in future builds.
Review: Very impressed! - It took me about 1 1/2 hours to install both brakes including fine adjustments (1 hr. on the first one, 2nd went much quicker. This also included removing the old ProMax or "zoom" brakes). The boxes came with everything I needed for complete installation on front and rear. My bike is a Mongoose XR-PRO 29", which came with horrible disk brakes. After installation I took a 5 1/2 mile ride around the hilly back streets of Ashland, KY. I was very surprised and impressed at the stopping power of these brakes compared to my stock brakes! Absolutely no comparison. And they are very smooth and quiet. I haven't experienced any squealing noises yet. Maybe I will later, but on this initial test run they were as quiet and smooth as can be. The price of these brakes is very reasonable, and THEY DO COME WITH PADS, in case you are not sure. The adjustment "knobs" for both inside and outside pads make adjusting these brakes very easy and precise. I realize I've only used these for a short ride, but if they continue to be as great as this, they couldn't be any better.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ First upgrade you should do!
*by E***C on September 24, 2012*

Bought my wife a new specialized Myka and myself a new kona splice. Was not happy with the stock tektro brakes. Figured they needed adjusting and such. But to me the brakes are important because we want to haul a kiddy trailer behind us for our future kids. Wanted the extra braking power to ensure ours and our kids safety if that we were going down hills or motorists not watching. Took 30 min per brake. Or a hour per bike for removing old brakes and installing the new brakes with proper adjustment. Was quite easy. I'm slightly mechanically inclined but haven't done much work on bikes before. Used the stock adapter on the specialized myka for the rear brake. Performance wise, before break in fronts would now be able to throw me over and can perform stoppies with pretty good control. They are noisy and sound awful, they are supposed to quiet down after break in. Rear brakes don't have the noise that the fronts do. Must be something to do with the way they are mounted. Much greater stopping power over the tektro. I now have the ability to lock up the rear brakes where as I could not do that before. I'd buy them again. A must upgrade in my books. And much cheaper then going to hydraulic brakes.
