(Daily Practice Guide Book for Beginners) Review: Best drawing book - I loved this book! I am a total novice and my drawings came out pretty good! He really does break each picture down step by step, unlike other books that give maybe 4 steps of a drawing (vs 7 or 8 steps, as in this book). This really helps to understand where each aspect of the drawing comes from for someone with no experience. I've ordered several books by other authors after I finished this one and most other books are long on words and short on visual instructions, which I don't get at all - this is art, people. This author also gives full proof techniques you can generalize to free hand drawing, such as breaking an object into shapes first or using a vanishing point. I can see that this author has written several other books so I'll be sticking with him for now. Review: Sketching - With no experience in drawing, this book has helped me from drawing stick figures to material that actually looks like recognizable images. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Good and not so good
I like this book. It covers what I hoped it would. However, It lacks some detail on instructions. I’m just starting and already getting frustrated. I’ll figure it out eventually, but I’m still confused.

Great for beginners
This is a great book for beginners, but it can get pretty challenging. I recommend You Can Draw In 30 Days by Mark Kistler before jumping into this book if you are an absolute beginner at drawing. I love Erik's drawing style and his instruction is very clear and helpful. He's a great teacher! This book definitely helps the beginner advance their skills and feel more confident about drawing. 10/10 recommend. I will be getting more of Erik's books!

Get Kistler first
It's decent but it seems like it's poorly translated from another language and it skips a lot of information for the beginner. I'm going to echo another comment here and say Mark Kistlers "You Can Draw In 30 Days" is by far the best beginners book and you should get that first. This just has massive gaps between steps and almost no explanation for what you're doing or why.

I drew a bit before this but I was always stuck on where to start to learn to draw better . I am on day 22 and my drawing are so much better already . The explanations are nice and the examples easy to follow . As you go along the examples get a little less detailed so it can be more challenging . I’ve already purchased other books from the artist to learn further . Love this book

It's a very good book to learn from step by step, very interesting, I've only just started as a complete beginner.

This a my second beginner drawing book. This is not for someone totally new to drawing, but is great if you have some basics already. It covers a range of subjects to practice drawing. I like it for that. I found it did not have an easy to understand explantion of how to use vanishing points and perspective in drawing. So, if you did not already know how, then you may find that part a bit unclear.
