You can't really tell anymore from the reviews what is good or not, because so many reviews are fake. But after trying this product, I would say that the reviews for this product were honest. If you don't like coconut (or even a hint of the flavor of coconut) do not buy this product. Yes, you can taste a hint of coconut. Just a hint. But, most of all there is this savory, smoky, crunchiness, with the chewiness, and a bit of oiliness (from the coconut itself) that tricks your flavor buds into thinking you're eating some seriously delicious bacon. I couldn't stop snacking on it out of the bag, but when I used it as the bacon in my BLT today...WOW!!! I can't wait to buy another tomato to make another sandwich. And, although I do eat meat, I prefer to eat vegetarian meals as often as possible. This Coconut Bacon will contribute towards saving many piggy lives, and that makes me happy. I'm going to try it in any and every recipe that calls for bacon. I'm also going to give my 32 year old chef/daughter one of the two packages as one of her silly/fun birthday presents. I know she will be amazed.***UPDATE*** My daughter did not get one of the packages for her birthday. I ate it all. :) Also, I reordered from Phoney Baloney's website: 3 packages for $15, plus $5 shipping. At first taste it does taste bacon-y but the pieces are a big too big in my opinion so it meant I had to chew a lot before I could swallow it and I noticed that after a few chews the coconut flavor came out noticeably. As vegan "bacon" goes, this is a good one. It's great on anything where it can stay crisp, like a salad or tacos. When you cook with it (think as a pizza topping, for example), it does get a little soft. But the flavor is wonderful, smoky and complex and we buy it on the regular.
