Is the battery replaceable?

Hello The Slim sensors batteries are not replaceable, the battery life expectancy is 7 years. abode support

What kind of problems may i experience during the abode slim sensor install on my metal door? my door doesn't quite even out w| my door frame.

The sensors tend to be fairly robust with aluminium doors, but when an excess of metal starts affecting the magnets, you may experience incorrect open/close reports from the sensor, or intermittent reporting through to the Gateway. If you hav an existing sensor of nay type, you c an test with that for a period of time to see if there will be any interference.

Can I used the slim strip sensor on a traditional apartment door?

You can, but being a magnet based sensor, you can experience problems when installing on metal doors.

Do I really need a $200+ gateway / kit to make this $32 sensor work?

How else would you expect it to work? Just an independent sensor without connection, monitor and ability to arm and disarm all buily in for $32?
