Cat Mate C300 Automatic Digital Pet Feeder for Dogs and Cats BPA and BHT Free with Ice Pack

EDIT: Although I still love this product, after eight months it has become unreliable. Sometimes it opens almost all the way and stops, sometimes it doesn't rotate and open at all. It also is opening much much slower than it used to. The batteries are new. Something has gone wrong and I can't figure out what. It's never been dropped or come in contact with water. The clock works fine all the time ... it's just that I can no longer feel confident my girl will be fed on time if I'm not here to open and change the dish if it malfunctions. I hate to spend the money to replace it if there's a chance of the same outcome. Still leaving it as a 5 star hoping mine is the exception. ~~~~~~~~ PERFECT solution to feeding my food/treat motivated miniature poodle. She's on a prescription diet and eats 3 smaller meals daily. Sometimes I can't be home when she needs to eat and this makes both of our lives better. When her internal clock tells her it's close to meal time Piper will hang out near the feeder and the second she hears the gears start turning, she's ON IT (did I mention she looooves food?) It's very easy to set the timer and you can adjust it anytime you need to. This one has two timers as well as a digital clock on it. There are 3 compartments ... one is open/uncovered for first feeding and two that are safely covered until the timer rotates the compartments. The compartments will hold a good amount of food for a cat or smaller dog. This model won't accommodate quite a cup of kibble though, so probably won't work for a large dog. There are 3 pieces to this feeder not counting the freeze pack. It's very well made and quite sturdy. I bought an extra ice/freeze pack because sometimes I forget to pop it in the freezer in the evening. I recommend doing that unless you only feed kibble, in which case you won't need the freeze pack at all. All in all, this has been a life changer for me.

Our cat would wake us up between 3-4am every day, crying to be fed. We feed him at night but he would eat it all and be hungry by 3 or 4. We bought this feeder and we put one can of wet food out around 10pm, and schedule half a can feedings at 1am and 4am. Like magic - he gets what he needs and we get to sleep through the night! The ice pack keeps the wet food fresh, too, so we don’t have to worry about that. He often skips the 1 am feeding, so we open the tray in the morning and he eats that around 8am. But it’s there at 1am if he does need it. The timer is easy to set, the pan is easy to clean, and the entire unit is simple to use. You can only “schedule” two feedings. The primary bowl is open when you put down the dish. The second bowl area rotates open at the set time, and the third bowl area opens at its set time. So the first feeding time is whenever you put down the bowl. This bowl has been a GAME CHANGER to help us get a good and full night of sleep!

My cat loves the consistency it provides. But it only comes with one ice pack so it doesn’t keep the cat food fresh for longer than 8hrs. I thought that there was cover that would slide back but the device rotates. It has three sections, so one meal section is always uncovered. It only allows for 2 meals to be set on a timer. So I don’t know why it says 3 meals when one section is always uncovered and only 2 meals are set on a timer. Great price! I do recommend this device because it does what I need breakfast and lunch for my cat while I’m at work. :))

I bought this for my Toy Poodle puppy who sometimes has to be by himself during the day and has to eat more than twice a day because of his small breed. This feeder has worked out perfectly. It has worked without fail so far and easy to set. I bought this style because I feed him wet food and the separate refreezable ice pack is perfect. He has come to know the sound the feeder makes when turning and comes running (I have watched him on my phone through a camera I have set up at home for monitoring him). This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. It was inexpensive and is exactly what I needed for my puppy. He now just needs one of the automatic feedings. If you don't use all three compartments (two are for the auto feed and one is for the immediate feed that you give your pet) you can leave one of the compartments empty and turn the auto feed off on that compartment. Just be careful to be sure you fill the correct compartment for the auto feed. The tray moves counter-clockwise. The first time I cut back to one auto feed meal, I filled the wrong one and my poor pup missed his lunch. the tray has numbers on it, numbered 0 for the initial feeding and 1 & 2 for the auto feeds. Just be sure to place the tray in the correct position . I have been using this feeder for about 6 weeks now.

It's loud when the motor turns so don't put it in your bedroom. It does serve its purpose. I use mine to give three meals to my fat cat. Setting the meal times is easy and difficult at the same time. It's a pretty standard 24 hr clock. However the numbers on the display do not indicate position on the tray. If you want it to do the PM feeding first you'll have to make sure you are setting it up before that feeding or a little after the morning feeding. It will ALWAYS set position 1 to AM and 2 to PM on the display. It will always rotate counterclockwise.

After moving to a new home recently, our aging cat began a new habit of crying loudly outside our bedroom door for her morning wet food - earlier and earlier - often as early as 4:15am. No amount of ignoring her, feeding her in the evening before bed, larger portions, more dry food, door open or closed - nothing seemed to help. We seemed doomed to a new phase of 4am feedings - something we thought we were long past. Out of a bit of desperation to restore our sleep, I found this feeder. We set it up, and first fed her some wet food out of the open bowl (just to get her to associate the feeder with food). She didn't seem to have any hesitancy. That done, we added food and an ice pack, programmed the timer to open at 4:15, and prayed it would work! It took a few nights of getting up and showing her that "look, the food's in the bowl already, the machine feeds you now", but around the fifth night, it seemed to finally click with the cat. I'm still cautious, it's only been 8 nights that we've used it, but the last 3 nights in a row there's been no yowling, and she's eaten her food - without waking us up! Result! Overall the device does exactly what it's supposed to. The only complaint is the feeding bowl is a bit deep, and I've noticed she has trouble getting food out of the corners at times. We've tried to make sure we put the food in very centered, and added a bit more than usual to compensate (anything to buy some more sleep). The bowl's rubber feet seem to be very skid resistent, and she's doesn't seem to have any hesitation using it. Easy to clean in the morning, freezer pack goes back in the freezer, and we're ready to set up again that evening. Overall, it seems a success so far. Fingers crossed. if it gives us our sleep back, it's worth every penny.

The first one malfunctioned and stopped rotating correctly and wouldn’t line up with the opening. Confused, I tried to force it back into place which broke the rotation mechanism (it warns not to do that, I saw the warning too late). I figured since the first time it broke had some element of human error I would shell out to replace the unit. It was past the return window. Until only 3 months after purchasing another unit the same thing started happening. It’s like the electronics in this thing malfunction extremely easily. It either rotates forever and randomly stops halfway between trays or doesn’t rotate at all, and some random days works as expected. My poor hungry cat has to come ask for food which defeats the purpose of this thing, and it’s so irritating to take the top off and find wasted lukewarm meals that were never rotated to the opening. I know I’m programming it correctly because it worked fine for about two months then started randomly malfunctioning. The ice pack design is also poorly executed. There is no insulation, the ice pack is insufficient in its placement under the meals, and melts after a few hours. If left in the unit more than that the whole unit starts to smell like mildew which lingers. I live in a desert so it’s not like it’s very humid here, I think the design it just not very effective to keep everything cool and the condensation breeds mildew in the warm enclosed environment. Just all around a terrible experience with this product. I wish I could get the $90 I wasted on two of these malfunctioning units back.

This is the 3rd automatic feeder we've gotten for our cat, who is a hungry, voracious monster in the mornings. So far, he has not broken this one, which speaks to the quality and sturdiness of the product. The timer function still works and holds time well, allowing us humans to get our needed sleep without being awoken by a starving cat because the automatic feeder is one minute too late in dispensing food.

Let me start by saying I could live with out this. We had to by two at the same time and it felt like a huge outlay. But with young cats on a more frequent eating schedule, than a full grown one. As they are fans of wet food, the sealed units are brilliant abs they do eat the food even at the end of the day. This has meant we can go for a long day out, or an evening out and know they have their food at regular intervals, on their normal schedule. Once the cats are older and we can leave them over night, we know they will still keep to their eating schedule, with fresh food. It is easy to set up. Read the instructions - I may have jumped in and it took me a little longer to get it right. The freezer packs are great. The dishes go in the dishwasher, so easy to clean. The main unit is easy to wipe down. The unit is rather big, and very different from the normal food dish arrangement, but ours get on with it fine - our boy cat is a sensitive soul and struggles with change, so I try and leave a few biscuits in one of these so it smells of food and he associates it with meals. It can be a little bit noisy when the dish moves round - but I’ve noticed it does act as a call to food, so that can’t be bad. I would really recommend this if you have cats who need an early morning feed, or if you have a change to your routine but want your cats to stay on theirs.

My lab needs a snack every morning at around 5:00 a.m. to tide her over until her breakfast meal at 11:30 a.m. I couldn’t handle these early morning feeds anymore. The other auto pet feeders that I looked into were not right for us because of their noisy timers, and because many were dispensers which we didn’t want - but the Cat Mate C300 has been PERFECT. We leave it in our bedroom on the floor next to our lab’s bed, and we don’t hear a sound because it’s a digital timer. There’s a bit of noise for about 3 seconds as the tray turns, but that’s it. She happily gobbles up her sweet potato and fruit snack (which stays cool all night due to the ice pack under the tray), and then she goes back to bed. We’re no longer sleep deprived, thx to this FANTASTIC feeder. Very well made and easy to use.

Really disappointed as I bought this because I thought it would dispense all 3 meals. You can only automate 2 of the 3 meals so one of them has to be manually put in which defeats the purpose of having 3 separate slots. It was supposed to help for when I have busy days but it feels more of a hinderence.
