Kids Beyond Limits: The Anat Baniel Method for Awakening the Brain and Transforming the Life of Your Child With Special Needs

I purchased this book to learn about the Anat Baniel Method for our micro-preemie daughter, who is already receiving several therapies. The book has many fascinating aspects, and we’ve scheduled a one-month camp program next month to try the method. Our daughter is now 1.5 years old. I’ll update if we see any progress, but it’s definitely worth trying, and it’s a safe approach. I also really value Anat Baniel’s perspective of looking at children with positivity. Unfortunately, the program in San Francisco is very expensive. For a therapy that children need long-term, this high cost is difficult to manage. That’s why we plan to take the training and apply the program at a more affordable and reliable center in Turkey, even though we live in California. To all parents whose path may differ but whose love and effort never fade—this is for you.

I purchased this book after receiving Anat Baniel Lessons for my 3 year old son with Spastic Diaplegic Cerebral Palsy. The Lessons at the Center had been so fantastic and I was very eager to read Anat Baniels' book "Kids Beyond Limits." First, I have to say I was very surprised at how much more the 9 essentials, defined in this book, affected my whole outlook on not only handling my son but parenting as a whole, my life, my marriage, everything. The simplicity to them is just awe inspiring. Second, I like how easy it is to follow. I have been very dedicated to researching new methods and/or treatments to help my son since he was in the NICU and first diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Having no medical background, some books are full of words and ideas that require additional research on my end. It gets frustrating at times. This book was written, I believe, with the reader in mind. There are examples with each essential, ideas of how to implement them into your routines and life and how it's written is very direct and easy to track. I found it most refreshing. Lastly, if you are looking for a way to help your child with OR without a disability, I recommend this book. I have two children, my son with CP and my daughter who is your typical toddler, and I have found by inserting what I have learned with both my children, they both have benefitted as well as myself. My family is a huge advocate for ABM as we have first hand witnessed what it can do. This book is a huge exstention of what YOU can apply in your home with your family to help them. My sons development all around has greatly improved. His speech, fine motor, physical abilities... There is not one area he has not improved in. I recommend this book not only be read but applied. It's truly amazing how powerful the brain really is!

I am an ABM/NeuroMovement practitioner and work with children with special needs. I give this book to parents, teachers, TA's and therapists. This book is a wondeful resource to effectively support and drive the child's developmental process forward. I have received feedback from teachers and therapists, who expressed much appreciation for this book and said that when they began to use the nine principles, that drive neuroplasticity, in their work with the children they observed outcomes they did not see before. I highly recommend to buy Kids Beyond Limits and KEEP it, so you can go back to it and read a chapter again. The information in this book is easy to understand but in order to really assimilate all of it you will be doing well reading passages and chapters again ... and again.

In Kids Beyond Limits, Anat Baniel shares her vast knowledge gained from many many years of study as well as experience working with Special Needs children. She has many inspiring and enlightening stories to share as well as real advice. I believe Anat provides information that can complement traditional therapies. While reading this book, it sometimes seemed like your option is one or the other but I think there is room to apply both and cases where both can be beneficial. I like the concrete advice, examples, and exercises you can do immediately that she has detailed in the book. I know I have already applied some skimple immediate concepts to my child's life and my own. We can always be getting in better touch and awakening our own neuro-self.

Parents of children with special needs and those of us who are practitioners of the Anat Baniel Method have found this book to be extremely helpful. It addresses the dozens of questions I get asked all the time by parents who contact me or bring their children to see me. It is the ultimate Frequently Asked Questions for the Anat Baniel Method for Children. The chapter on the difference between Fixing and Connecting with your child is awesome all by itself! The parents who have read this book absolutely LOVE it and have a much better understanding of how and why they are seeing the outcomes with the sessions. I cannot stress enough how important it is for ALL parents to read this book. These principles apply for any child's ability to learn and grow. Parents will learn how to "be" with their child and understand how amazing their child's brain already is! Thank you so much Anat! :)

I have taken various "mind body awareness" lessons for my own back problems and other ailments associated with aging (Iam 71 yrs young). I am also a father of an adopted 15 year old boy who has some challenges regarding symptoms similar to autism. I found the book particularly enlightening in that regard since I have been using the Feldenkrais Method that the author gives credit to as part of her training. The latter part of the book describing in detail the methods used in addessing various case histories of patients that she as treated. This was in particular helpful in understanding the positional elements of the therapies and how they relate to the mind of a child facing unique physical and mental challenges. My only negative regarding the book was that it was somewhat repetitive in it's introductory chapters.

My son has been getting the therapy since April 2013 on a regular basis with the practitioners certified by Anat Baniel, he was diagnosed with CP in early childhood,and in fact he has severe delay of development of his motor, speech and psychical skills, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. ABM became our main choice at the age of 7,5 when we have already tried a lot of other therapies, and we sticked to it as it brings a lot of benefits for his motor and psychological development. Also I found that it helped a lot to improve his hearing function as he suffers from central auditory processing disorder. I was very impressed after reading Anat's explanation about an autistic brain and its troubles at the website of ABM method. I am very grateful to Anat and all her staff and certified practitioners that they made this wonderful therapy and books available for us and our kids. Thank you very much!

This book has become a staple in our practice and we recommend it to every parent and caregiver that comes through the door. We can all benefit from developing a learning brain and Anat Baniel has provided a wonderful set of principles for people to do exactly that. Highly recommend!

This book has changed our lives. We've been able to implement so many of the suggestions that have prompted growth in our little developmentally delayed guy. It's exciting to know there is so much we can do to help him grow into his full self. So happy to have found it. Well worth a read!

Lovely book a good read for parents/ teachers of children with special needs. Well written simple engaging and gives a lot of ideas

Very informative, slow starting, I have not finished it yet. But apparently it’s an excellent book and technique! Why not give it ago.

This book opened my mind, every parent should read this book, regardless of whether or not their child has special needs. But for those who have a child with special needs, it is a must-read
