## Description

The Kestrel 5500FW Fire Weather Meter Pro is your all-in-one hand-held belt weather kit, monitoring every critical weather measurement plus PIG (Probability of Ignition) and FDFM (Fine Dead Fuel Moisture). Monitor heading, wind direction and speed (current/average/max), cross/head/tail wind, altitude, pressure trend, barometric pressure, wet bulb and globe temperature, relative humidity, heat stress index, dewpoint, density altitude, wind chill, and air/water/snow temperature. The 5500FW features a large, backlit screen for easy viewing all conditions and has a user-replaceable impeller protected by a flip-top cover. The rugged design is fully waterproof (IP67), floats, and is drop tested to MIL-STD-810F standards for even the most demanding use. The 5500FW tracks, logs and charts thousands of time-stamped data points. Connect with your Mac or PC to transfer data, perform updates and more (USB interface sold separately). Includes AA battery, neck lanyard and protective pouch plus PIG and FDFM waterproof cards. The 5500FW is able to withstand harsh environmental extremes without damage and handle the abuses of work on a fire line wherever you're assigned. We are building wind turbine foundations so, wind velocity, temperature and evaporation rate are all important. It’s easy to use and the information is literally at my fingertips and easy to read. I know of no other device other than Kestrel that can provide this accuracy and scope of measurements so compactly. A bit expensive, yes but, something of this sophistication can’t be produced cheaply. If you purchase one, take care of it. It’s worth it.

For such a small device, this instrument is awesome. It fits in the breast pocket of my work jacket. We are building wind turbine foundations so, wind velocity, temperature and evaporation rate are all important. It’s easy to use and the information is literally at my fingertips and easy to read. I know of no other device other than Kestrel that can provide this accuracy and scope of measurements so compactly. A bit expensive, yes but, something of this sophistication can’t be produced cheaply. If you purchase one, take care of it. It’s worth it.
