Great product. It seals nicely and holds the water in the sink. I like that the strainer basket rests in the drain without seating down, not until pushed down. This allows for chunks of food items to be caught in the strainer, allowing it to actually do its job. My old strainer had to be set off-kilter to allow the water to go down, which then allowed food particles to go down the drain. The only bad thing about resting the strainer basket in the straining position is it does slow down the flow of water draining from the sink, and if a lot of water is dumped into the sink it will push the basket down into the seated position and plug the drain. So if you are dumping a hot pan of water into the sink you might want to remove the strainer basket first to allow the free flow of water down the drain. I can not speak to installation as my contractor did this for me.

Wish I could give it 5 stars...easy to install...only had to cut the plastic tail piece since this was deeper than our current one. Works well...the only negative is there should be a larger space between the ball bearing and the rubber stopper at the bottom of the strainer basket so that the water drains faster. Finish is excellent and the rubber gasket being included for the tail piece was a nice touch...better than the plastic one that was there. The slower draining costs it a star. I sent Coflex an email suggesting they increase the distance between the rubber stopper and the spring loaded ball bearing by about 3-4 mm to eliminate the air bubble forming and slow water drainage. They agreed with me that this was the way to eliminate the problem and replied on 3/16/16 "We have received your address. We will be happy to send you a replacement. Please note this will take about a couple of months. Thanks for your support." NEW UPDATE: Well, today I received the new strainer and as I suggested, the spring loaded ball bearing was moved 3-4 mm...perfect. No more air bubbles blocking the flow of water or slow drainage and it is now THE VERY BEST!

Tossed the foam gaskets. Seated the strainers with an 1/8” bead of fast set silicone. From underneath I filled in the crack all the way around between sink opening and strainer. Let the silicone cure for 30 minutes before placing the rubber ring, cup and lock ring on. Be careful - make certain the rubber ring is centered on top of retaining cup. A good silicone seal should prevent any moisture on the inside of retaining cup. Should last for years. Good quality- good price- much easier installation than a strainer with full size threaded lock ring. NO REGRETS

Was relatively easy to install and the fact that it is tall has improved flow into the drain as compared to the one it replaced that had rusted and become pitted The removable basket sits centered slightly above sink drain when opened and locks with a ball bearing closure. It seals well and holds water when needed and the positive locking mechanism allows water to drain when seal is not engaged without having the strainer sitting at an angle etc. as was the case with the one it replaced. I used normal plumbers putty vs. the foam gaskets that came with it as read some negative stuff online about foam gaskets.

Sink drain cups have been a kitchen piss-off for 10 years. The usual hardware store item has several problems: corrosion, the basket fails, hard to clean, and the basket, when in the "drain" mode, sticks up above the bottom of the sink and scrapes on pans, etc. Nasty. This unit exactly solves all of those irritations. It's easy to clean, it's made from corrosion free metals, the basket can't fail (because it has no moving parts), and when in the "drain" mode the basket sits nicely below the bottom of the sink, and does not scrape pans. Nicely done! I give it five stars for sturdiness. What will it be in 10 years? See you then.
