This is the best motion/light sensing dimmer
When i replaced all my floodlights with led bulbs, I also replaced my manual dimmers with these. They work great and can be programmed as to which intensity to turn on at, they also learn how low the ambient light needs to be in order to turn on (Depending on the setting). Also, there is an advances setting mode, found that in a separate manual. That allows you to lock the switch at a given preset, so even if you change the light level, after turning off and on, you're back to the preset level. This is useful for example in a hallway by the bedrooms were i set the preset at the lowest level so we don't get blasted by light at night. So, while the positives are obvious from a quick look at the manual, here are a couple gotchas: - These dimmers work in a three way setup, but only with a companion dimmer that does not have a sensor. So if you want a motion sensor at the base of your stairs and a motion sensor at the top of your stairs, this will not work, kind of a shame. At least with the companion dimmer you can control dimming from both ends of the stairwell and turn the light on/off with the button - You can use this in a three way setup with a regular siwtch (just have to change a setting so it knows you're using a regular switch) - the motion sensitivity setting only has high and low - basically, high is not high enough and low is not low enough. Wish it would have a broader adjustment range My only major issue with these switches is that I have not found out a way to force these to stay on - basically without any movement, the light will go off after the timeout. Yes, you can go in the settings, follow some steps, and disable the motion sensor but that pretty much defeats the purpose of buying a dimmer with a motion sensor. I wish that i could hold the up button and turn the light on and then it would stay on until i press the button. About the same goes for off. If you want the light to stay off while you're in the room, you can pull the bottom service switch, but that's hokey. The way the sensor works is, after you turn off the light, it waits for the movement to stop and then 20 more seconds. but if you're sitting still for 30 seconds, then your next motion will turn on the light. Most other motion activated switches have a manual switch, that would have been an option too. So, while the ability to force the switch to stay on would have been nice, we really like the switches overall. They work very well and we have them all over our house.

Easy to install, works as a vacancy sensor
I purchased this for use in our kitchen's breakfast nook to allow adjusting the brightness and for shutting off the lines when everybody had left the table. Installation was fairly straightforward and it took all of 30 minutes to swap the switch and configure it to my liking. The only thing that stumped me for a moment was the green ground wire coming off the frame, and what I thought was also a green ground screw. A quick consult of the directions declared that the screw was actually blue (still looks more green to me) and it was only needed if wiring with multiple switches. I see folks complaining that their LED's flicker with this switch. They need to make sure that the LEDs are actually dimmable. While the switch works with LEDs, the bulbs ALSO have to be dimmable. If the bulb drivers are not designed to be dimmable they will flicker. I also see folks complaining that it is hard to configure. There are four settings you can set, each with no more than four choices to select with each. You only have to set the ones you want to change from the defaults. For those on the West Coast, this switch meets California Title 24 building requirements that now require vacancy sensors to control lights in bathrooms, garages, laundry rooms, and utility rooms.

Quality part, even when it explodes from lousy wiring on my part! =D
Funny thing, I hooked it up and heard, "pssshhhHHHPOP!" Turned out the ground wire inside the electrical box had come loose! I let the smoke out of the unit before I could even try it. I opened the unit up, and saw on the back of the circuit board, a trace had simply vaporized. Short circuit. I replaced the trace with the leg of a resistor, and presto! The unit works as good as new! It doesn't dim my LED's to OFF, but it dims them to VERY dim, which is more than I could have asked for seeing as these were $5 downlights from eBay! VERY happy with this unit, and that occupancy sensor has a 180ยฐ viewing angle, it's SO SO sensitive, I love it! Also, by default the timeout is 5 minutes from no motion detection (ir sensor) and when the 5 minutes is up, the lights SLOWLY fade off so you have time to stand up and move again or whatever you need (currently, it's mounted outside of the room it illuminates as I'm still finishing that room) and then it waits 25 seconds before it reactivates unless you PRESS the button. Fantastic unit, couldn't be happier! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQegkRc3yrc

Work great, but expensive.
I've purchased 3 of these for rooms where I need occupancy AND dimmer features. These work excellent for single pole, single location use (for a few dollars more, there is another version available which can work with multiple switches controlling the same load). One of the switches was installed 5 years ago, and still works flawlessly, very impressive. They are also good looking, and very customizable. No clicking, they turn on silent. They also have an ambient light sensor, which can be enabled/disabled in the programmable setup. The switch can be set to no occupancy mode and not turn on when the room is already bright enough, like during the day when curtains are open. Great energy savings. On the con side, these are expensive, but sometimes quality costs. Buy with confidence. PS: If you don't need BOTH dimmer AND occupancy features, there are other models available with just one of those abilities for about half the price.

Outstanding.
Very capable motion sensing dimmer switch, with a craftsmanship that reflects well on the Lutron brand. The instructions are clear and there is more in-depth documentation to be found online -- search for 048480a.pdf on Lutron site as someone else pointed out, or simply Google it. The product also has one of the highest levels of customization I have ever seen in a motion sensor switch. Lastly but not something to be glossed over, the switch makes absolutely no sound when it turns ON, which is indeed refreshing seeing as how nearly all regular, non-dimmer switches make an audible 'click' sound when the motion sensor gets triggered. Plenty of other reviews will serve as a primer to delve into the features and customization settings this product offers, so I will gloss over them for the most part. Installed as a single-pole switch in a bathroom vanity, which controls a total of 6 dimmable LED lights. Thankfully the lights did not "flicker or strobe" unexpectedly at the high- and lower-end brightness settings, so I didn't need to go into the advanced setup mode to update those levels at all. The switch in this case is facing the direction of the person entering the room, and turns on immediately (and silently) due to the 180ยฐ coverage area. All is well, but due to my use-case I did have to make a few adjustments from the default values: * Timeout set to the minimum allowable value of 1 MINUTE, which is how long it waits to turn OFF after detecting no motion * Occupied level set to PRESET (led position 1), so it automatically turns ON to the last manually set brightness level * Nightlight Mode disabled and set to OFF, just to conserve a bit of energy and due to the fact that usually there is no need to manually turn the lights ON, since it automatically does this each time. I also do have the Ambient Light Detection (ALD) disabled, since the room is always dark and I want the sensor to always trigger. One small gripe in regards to the timeout setting: minimum is 1 minute, but I wish 30 seconds was a configurable option (call me vain or perhaps not rational, but I however was curious to see if such a low timeout setting would be feasible at all). Further, while the value set is 1 minute, I have consistently noticed after observation that the lights do turn off a couple seconds past the set timeout -- they seem to fade out approximately 1 minute 15 seconds after vacating the room. I wasn't able to figure out the cause of the delay in the timeout, but it seems internally preset and no way to update that at all. The automatic FADE IN of the lights seem to happen too fast for the human eye to appreciate it - but this might be due to the brand of LED bulbs I have or due to the level I have preset. Currently my preset level is at 50% brightness, and I notice the lights automatically turn ON in <1 second when any motion is detected. In contrast, the lights take about 5 seconds to automatically FADE OUT after no motion is detected. I certainly wish that the automatic FADE IN/OUT values were able to be customized, but these values seem to be internally set which is unfortunate. Lastly, I've listed the Pro's and Con's of this product below. Overall a fantastic product with a few shortcomings that I have noticed. + Solid, in-depth documentation + Lots of customization options available + Completely silent when light is turned ON (no sound of relay being switched) + Manual ON/OFF is also possible + Indicator LEDs show the current brightness level + Able to set high- and low- end brightness "trims" in order to avoid a flickering/strobing effect on some bulbs - Can only set the manual FADE IN/OUT for the switch; unable to set these values for when switch *automatically* turns on - Cannot set a timeout < 1 minute - Hidden delay of 15 seconds or so in addition to set timeout

Near perfect switch.
This device works perfectly. The cover plate is smaller than I needed. I had to get a bigger plate to cover wall anomalies. It looks great.

Lutron Maestro LED+ Motion Sensor/Dimmer Switch | 150W LED | Single Pole/Multi-Location
Been using Lutron for years. These are great and look awesome. Easy to use and no flickering with LED bulbs.

Wow!
Paired with five Kobi 1100 lumens and two Kobi 1500 lumens. Worked out terrific, super impressed. Super pleased with the Kobi bulbs, both the sets of 5500K and 2700K, better light spread than the florescent they replaced (actually a perfect light spread, could not imagine any bulb being better) and I have to put my ear right up to the bulb in order to hear any buzzing. I donโt think I would ever risk buying any other brand in the future because Iโm so happy with these. A few tips, (1) Buying slightly higher lumens/watts with a dimmer that can be set to always turn back on to the place you left it was brilliant. We turn up the lights brighter when the kids are at play/doing art, when Iโm working on something, but then the other 90% of the time they are set slightly under the max capability. (2) Auto sensing dimmer was super, no reason to yell about the lights being left on, and no need to go to the switch when you enter the room. Be sure your automatic dimmer senses when you enter a room, many on the market have to be turned on manually and just turn off when you leave. Often the terms occupancy switch vs. vacancy switch can indicate the difference. (3) When it comes to the bulbs, donโt buy too cool. I thought the pure sunlight like temperature of 5500 kelvin would be great for our space, since the kids play there a lot, do art etc. This didnโt work out. Everyone felt it was too cold and enjoyed the space less. Amazonโs return on these was super simple (Iโm Prime, not sure if that made it so simple), and we purchased the Kobi 2700 kelvin bulbs to replace these. I thought they were going to be too warm and had wanted to find something in the 3500 kelvin range, but they were not. They are just perfect!

Great functionality - just be sure to research first.
I have a couple of the Vacancy versions of this sensor, and I just bought one of the occupancy versions. Carefully review the specs so you buy the right one. The occupancy sensor (OP) turns on automatically when you enter the room and turns off 5 minutes after you leave. It also has the dimmer which has about 8 discrete settings. All these things are adjustable, including the sensitivity. I installed this on a circuit of 8 LED lamps in my garage. The idea is it replaces the crappy light on the garage door opener which turns on whenever the car enters the garage. So far it is working beautifully. When you select one of these be sure to calculate your overall power usage. These babies get hot if you run them with more power than they are rated for. Further, if you put more than one in a box, the limit goes down. This is due to how much heat they create . The switch itself is quite large so you can't stuff any wires in behind it unless you have an extra deep box. Its a good switch at a good price. I recommend. Just do your homework.

Wish I'd done it sooner!
We had a 3 way light in our hallway in a dark part of the house where the switches weren't in the easiest spots to access. I swapped out the central one with this motion activated dimmer switch as we have a baby on the way and thought this would make it easier to turn on the lights in the middle of the night while ensuring it could be dimmed instead of full brightness. If you've swapped out light switches before, this one is easy enough and the only trick was that with the 3 way, I needed the other one in the ON position for this one to be active. It's easy to program using the instruction manual, and the motion detection works extremely well (catches you coming around the hallway corner or out of rooms and turns on as you are entering the hallway). We've set it to turn on to the last used brightness, so before bed I turn it to a dimmer setting and in the morning keep it closer to full brightness. Very useful and works so well that I wish I'd installed it a year ago when I first thought about it!

Stop looking, this is the one you want
Dead easy to install (perhaps "dead" isn't the right wording? hah!). No faffing around with neutral wires. Just plug in the hot wires, attach a ground, and flip the power back on. I did mention to turn power off before installing, right? Box comes with everything you could possibly need... merettes, an extra wire, lots and lots of instructions... only thing you need is a faceplate, but those are a buck, so whatever. The light comes on gradually and there is a rocker switch so you can select which brightness it will illuminate to next time you walk into the room. Perfect for nights when you just want a little bit of illumination (or in my case, when I have a baby on my lap).

Work well so far
Works as it says. Very easy to install. Only thing not 5 star is because of the instructions, which are confusing. Once understood how it works, itโs fine. But will need to keep the instructions paper itโs too complicated to remember, even after understanding it.

Lutron Maestro LED+ Motion Sensor Dimmer Switch model MSCL-OP153M-WH - a fantastic piece of kit
I quickly and easily installed this Dimmer Switch in the bathroom, wishing to set a new automatically-dimmed light level for a new very-over-bright LED vanity light. I love the fact that I could adjust the default settings to my preferences (see photo for details, it's a bit tricky). Now, as I begin to enter the doorway, the PIR motion sensor immediately recognizes the movement and quickly ramps up the brightness to my preferred, roughly-50%, level. Perfect ! The light remains on as long as motion continues to be detected. After my preferred setting of 3 minutes without motion, the light level is ramped down to zero. If a different brightness level is desired for a specific task, merely press toggle buttons. I was a bit confused at first, but after noting that if you elect to, or accidentally, manually press the switch to turn the light Off, the auto-on feature will be disabled for 25 seconds, even if motion is detected. This is to provide occupants time to exit larger rooms after manually turning the lights off. If immediately re-entering the room (within 25 seconds), the unit must be manually turned on. After 25 seconds, the unit will return to normal detection operation.
