## Description

Size1 Pack Product Description L.E.D. Power Failure Light From the Manufacturer All the features of our bestselling Power Failure Lite, but in a slimmer, more decorative design

Review: UPDATE Nov. 18, 2016: I ordered another two-pack of these based on liking the two I already have so much, and wanting these in a couple other rooms or perhaps for travel. They're handy when you need a flashlight for something, and reliable when our power goes out typically a couple times a year during storms. In fact I'm raising my review to 5 stars, for the price vs. value received these are outstanding. I hadn't realized it was 4 YEARS since my original purchase and those two units still function well. I see the old ones are slightly less bright than the new ones when I compare the beam side-by-side. One minor difference in the new ones: there is no silver reflector behind the front 3 LEDs. It's just a white "reflector" same color as the rest of the device. This casts a softer more diffused light when I compare on a white ceiling, but it's a minimal difference. There is still a silver reflector behind the 2 front LEDs. The new lights arrived fully charged as with the two I'd purchased in 2012. Original review: These units are less expensive than a couple of the competing emergency lights, one reason I purchased 2 of them. I received (on 8/7/12) model #71134 (without "CC" at the end, which is what was advertised here and that other reviewers mention). I don't know what the difference is with the "CC", but mine do seem to work well and have good illumination (there are only 2 or 3 LEDs, keep in mind) in the dark. Both had a charge when I received them. Both come on at power failure (tested in a power strip) with either the front light or the flashlight function as selected. There is no "night light" except a red LED (on all the time when plugged in) which would be an aid in finding the device in the dark but provides virtually no light on its own (the selected main light comes on of course if the power goes off or if you unplug the device). I opened one device up (4 Phillips screws) to check the battery type and there are 3 "AAA" batteries enclosed in a green plastic-wrapped pack (stamped "Ni-MH AAA 200mAh 3.6V"), which is soldered to the device circuit board (unfortunately.) So it will be possible to replace the batteries if needed, but it'll probably require some light soldering (or maybe my favorite, heaving taping!) of the wires to the battery pack. I hate throwing things like this away just because the batteries stop working. The good news is, they are labeled as Ni-MH, not Ni-Cad batteries, which should perform better. For the low price, this is a simple and effective emergency light that will help me find the door or the lanterns and other gear in an emergency or power outage.
Review: Works very well

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how long (Hours) will the three side LED light stays on during a power outage.**
A: 3 out 4 of mine completely died within 5 hours. 1 barely hung on, ever so dimmly, maybe enough light to see 3 inches in front of it for at about 5 and half hours.

based on that, In a few -6 months, I worried they wouldn't last 3, maybe 4 hours... if your lucky.

I understand that in a power out, they will light your way, and help you find the regular battery type flashlights... but if your not home during those first hours (power out in day, lights go on for 3-4 hours, but you come home afterwards, in the dark, .. or if your asleep the first few hours, the lights die out before you wake up to go to the bathroom, or let the dogs out or what ever... your screwed...

they are useless under those conditions.

Probably better off looking for and paying a little extra for longer lasting ones... If your in hurry and want something ASAP before the next storm... Get 1 of these, while you look for better ones... (And test it!).

**Q: when plugged in does this also function as a night light?**
A: The description is misleading. It says "plug in light" "24 hour guide light" which could be interpreted as a night light and it's NOT! However it great to have for power failure. It also has a small red indicator light that remains on all the time.

**Q: When you plug this into a wall socket will it also block the other socket? In the photos it appears that it does so I'd like to confirm that. Thanks**
A: In one of those photos at Amazon, the AmerTec is plugged into the bottom outlet and is blocking the top one. Since the distance between the bottom of the light and the prongs is about ¼ inch, it can be plugged in and not block the other outlet below it if it is in the top outlet or above it if it is plugged into the lower outlet (upside down). If it is plugged into an ordinary, flat 6-outlet wall tap, it would block the adjacent outlet.

**Q: How bright? Light up the living room or hall enough to walk safely?**
A: Yes, enough to walk and see all the room corners in a 25x30 foot room. The way I have it set, when the power goes out the side LEDs are quite bright. Flashlight mode is very adequate. I'm thinking of buying another one. It's really much smaller than I imagined, but for $8.99, what I paid, it's given me peace of mind. The light is enough, in the center of the house to pour through the hallways and kitchen so you can make your way to it. Like a moth! ;)
