If you use digital connects instead of analog, have a separate headphone amp or do not listen with headphones, and do not listen critically, it may not be worth the difference to you in price. This player is only a few days old (may not be fully "broken in"). Compared to CD5004 from same company there is a definite upgrade. It start and loads faster, sound is a bit warmer, dare I say more analogue like. Display is a bit "different" and not as easy to read across the room but that is only negative. Voices seem clearer and more 3D and seems to partner well. Associated equipment is Marantz PM 6004 amp. and PSB B5 speakers.
