Perfect beginner board
I purchased this board for my 9 year old daughter. She had some experience getting up on my 8'board and was ready for her own. We rented a few different foam boards last summer, and were disappointed in many of them. After doing a lot of research online, we decided to give the liquid shredder a try. At 52" tall, and 72 lbs, this 6' board is just right. She can carry it on her own (over her head - her arms are too short to carry by her side), and has no trouble maneuvering it in the water. The board is very stable, with the float you would expect from a foam board. The fins are flexible, which is a good feature for kids who tend to ride right up onto the beach. We haven't had it long enough to comment on it's long term durability, but this board is performing wonderfully, and seems like it's going to last compared to others we've tried. It retails for much more on the manufacturer's site, making this a great deal. Be prepared to purchase a leash, which will cost an additional $25.00 or so.

Good beginner board
Good board for beginners. Our daughter is 9 and weighs about 50lbs. Perfect for her. BUT....I will say that the shipping of the board wasn't good. It arrived with the box torn all to bits, wrapped in thin bubble wrap (not the big bubbles, the tiny ones) and the tip of the board was bent. We never heard back from Amazon or the shipping company (Fed-X) to get resolution. We finally just decided to use the board and hope it will last for a summer or two. This is the exact board my daughter used in surf camp earlier in the summer. We'll see how it holds up----especially with the bend in to top.

Wouldn’t buy again
Definitely did not float above the water when my cousin stood on it! And she only weighs 90 lbs.

Not 6 feet, no leash
It isn’t 6 feet as the description says. It’s 5’10. It also didn’t come with a leash which is annoying. I had to go get one. It is not a quality made board. The wave storm from Costco is cheaper, way better quality, and comes with a leash. Other than those, the board perform okay for my son. Not too heavy.

I would give this board a lot more stars if I could!
I purchased this board for my 9 year old granddaughter because of the review by Ken Tanaka of Pearl City, Hawaii. I figured if anyone would know surfboards it had to be a guy named Tanaka from Hawaii. And Ken, you were absolutely spot on! My granddaughter has never surfed before. First of all, I bought her the yellow board because it just looked more like a surfboard to me and was the lowest price of the 3 colors offered. When the board arrived I was impressed with how solid it felt, not like a chunk of foam like some of the other boards advertised have been described. The fins went on easily. The board does not come with a leash, so I ordered the Dorsal / Procomp 7' clear FCS Dakine Style leash. We were going on vacation to Oak Island, NC, waves 5'-7', obviously not like Hawaii. The first day in the surf her uncle helped her with learning how to get up on the board. After that she simply got better and better as the day went on. She was able to catch a few waves and ride them in, which I thought was pretty cool. The second day she was up on the board more and more easily and was surfing more than wiping out. By day three she looked like she had been surfing for years and I told her she was officially a Wahine. Oh, by the way I asked her about the leash I purchased and she said to give it 10 stars out of 5, it was very comfortable around her ankle and did not interfere with her getting up on the board. If I could give this board 10 stars I would, I think this is probably the best purchase I have ever made on Amazon. And again, I would like to say "Thank you, Ken Tanaka!"

not a good decision. My son used it once and never ...
I really debated whether to buy this board or not as the reviews were up and down. In the end I bought it, not a good decision. My son used it once and never again. Board too slippery even with additional grip pads and wax, not bouyang enough for a learner and the shape is non- responsive. Not worth the money. Sorry.

It takes a while to (re)learn but once you get it this board is awesome!
I'm a beginner/intermediate surfer weighing 100 lbs and 5'4'' tall, and needed to go back to a foamie after my 6'5'' epoxy surfboard gave me one too many injuries (and I hated my Costo 8 foot one because it was too heavy and I kept nose-diving on waves). It took me about a month to re-learn how to get up on this board surfing 2-3 times a week (I think the 6'5'' to 6' downgrade was a bit too much for my level at that time), but now that I've gotten past that I LOVE this board! It has a lot of scratches on the top due to it being a soft top, but I'm getting my green waves and getting up on white wash with no problems again AND it's small enough to carry around. I keep scouring the internet to see what my next board will be, but I really can't think of any other one that suits me better than this board (considering I'm scared to death of epoxy boards now after my injuries)!

Flexes just a bit but not bad for a soft board
Enough float and mass to catch the smaller waves necessary for my kids to learn on (4 and 7). Flexes just a bit but not bad for a soft board. I would not recommend this for anyone over 150#s. I am 150 and can surf it pretty good on pretty small waves too flexy once the waves get bigger and doing harder turns. For kids 100# or less just getting into catching waves on their own and standing this is a great and safe way to start.
