5 Stars, Best D-Pad for Street Fighter V PS5
This 'Satelite Dish' (as I nicknamed it) Style D-Pad is the best for Street Fighter. I'm really not happy with the dual-sense d-pad or even the dualshock 4 I was using on PS4. This makes fireball rotation movement for shoto characters like Ryu or Ken and charge characters like Chun-Li so much easier to execute combos. The accuracy for execution is instantly noticeable. I only returned mine, because I needed the money back, but I will be purchasing another soon for street fighter content on YouTube. I love Street Fighter and this is my favourite controller. Having the 6 light, medium and heavy attack buttons on the front, make the game more fun also. I never liked using triggers on the back for fighting games. The feel of the controller is nice. Very professionally made (if that makes sense), visually as well. Looks nice. I can easily spend hours using this controller without my thumbs hurting and the material it's made from is nice to hold on to. The buttons don't take much effort to register a click, so you might not like this? I got used to it though. I suppose that's for quick reactions during play, which makes sense. They 6 buttons, make clicky sounds like mouse clicks, for your info. The only negative I can think of is the sound from the headphone port isn't as clear and bassy as the dual-sense controller, and I like my bass. It's not aweful and tinny, but it does lean towards a sharper, tinny sound. Anyway, it's great, so give it a buy if you like fighting games!

Decent enough controller for price
Definitely better than my Dual Sense for fighting games. Short analogue stick and gate makes getting combos a bit easier and buttons are responsive. What I dislike about it, it's wired not Bluetooth and it's a long cable. 6 button face takes a bit getting used to, and the DPad needs to be set up through software on your PC as it lacks out of box. However once set up, it's decent to use. Played MK1, SF6, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising and Tekken 8, and works well with those games, however I went back to using the Dual sense on Granblue. Considering upgrading already to a fight stick, but this was a purchase in order to try out the button layout to see if I like it, without spending too much money.

A definite recommendation. It's excellent. D pad could be better but it's still good especially with the software to change pressure on dpad. I love this

D - Pad is shockingly bad
Been looking for a 6 button fight pad as wanted to Play Street Fighter 6 on my new PS5 instead of staying with the ps4. My older fight pad doesn't work with PS5. Tried this Hori fight pad and although the layout and the buttons are pretty good, the D - Pad is absolutely appalling. With my older Fusion fight pad my inputs are usually tight and I can get the moves and combos I'm attempting almost every time. With this Hori the amount of times I have dropped BASIC bnb combos is ridiculous all due to the D - Pad being so loose. Used for 3 days and decided to go back to the old pad on ps4. Boom, all of a sudden my inputs are magically OK again. Product feels incredibly flimsy and cheap. Not worth the money. Returned.

absolutely terrible
If you play any fighting games which require motion inputs ( qcf, hcf, dp etc.) do not buy this pad. The face buttons feel good due to the machanical switches but the dpad is potentially the worst ive ever used. the pad itsef is not an ergonomic shape or size, and its impossible to find corners. when i watched reviews, it said that a firmware update would fix the diagonals but the firmware update either doesnt work or bricks the entire pad, at which point they will ask you to return it. If you play easy characters/ you are bad at the game then you might be fine, but if you care about accuracy of inputs avoid this pad at all costs. I should mention that this pad has ALOT of potential for future development, but is completely unusable in its current state.

Overrated
In all honesty, the controller is okay and usable but for fighting games the d-pad and joystick aren't that accurate especially when it comes to motion inputs like quarter circle ones. I would recommend learning leverless over a pad if you need precision

Best of both worlds
6 button layout is great, all nice and easy to reach, even with my stubby little thumbs. And you still have the triggers for easy throws, DR, etc. Nice clicky buttons too. D-pad is good for rotation moves, maybe occasionally I get accidental diagonals but that’s probably on me. Well worth 50 quid

It's all about that octagonal gate!
As an enjoyed of GameCube I've always loved octagonal gates on joysticks. Even modified my old SFxT arcade stick to have one. Better control of diagonals and more tactile on QCFs etc. couple this with the funky micro switched buttons and it's a damn good bit of kit. Great for Tekken, Street Fighter and arcade style single stick games.

Big improvement over standard PS5 controller for fighting games
Really love the Hori OCTA! I play most games on arcade sticks (street fighter, guilty gear etc), but for Mortal Kombat 1 I was looking for a controller with a good D-pad. I am really happy with the Hori. The D-pad is a big improvement for me over the standard PS5 controller, it gets out the special moves very consistently and fast. The buttons are very nice, you can feel the micro switch buttons are different but they are light and very fast to press also, it sounds like a mouse click and I think also here a good improvement over a standard controller. I used the hori software to map some buttons to make it suited for MK1 better and I like the fact that it stores it on the controller so you don't have to mess around with the PS settings. You can switch on the controller between PC, PS4 and PS5 and for each of these you can save a profile. So that can come in handy as both the PS4 and PS5 setting work on a PS5 console you have more or less 2 settings you can store. The controller is very light, this is not an issue to me, it is comfortable to hold and seems to be of good quality. I will have to play some more months before I can say that though :)

more like…. cheap commander……
used for a good 50 hours by now - feels cheap, buttons feel and sound like cheap mouse buttons and dpad can be annoyingly imprecise

Product Review 5 out of 5
I bought this controller twice (one for a backup). I waited before reviewing to break in the controller and test it. Pros: The Dpad Input. The inputs for the Dpad are extremely accuracte. Circular movements are consistent. I play tekken and Korean Back Dash, Wave Dash, Side step cancels and other movements are very consistent. It feels like it goes to neutral a bit faster than the ps5 controller (my opinion). The Six button layout feels great. Very similar to mouse clicks. L3 and R3 shoulder buttons. On this controller the L3 and R3 are the left shoulder buttons. Some six button layouts don’t have this option. Be careful though, because some fighting games like Mortal Kombat 1 do not allow you to map to L3 or R3 so the shoulder buttons will be useless in that case. Very light. Some peope may not like the fact that this controller is light. However, I prefer a lighter controller because it’s easier to hold the controller for long periods of time when playing claw style if you do not use your lap. If you are rough on your contollers this device can feel a bit fragile and may not be for you. Cons: The feel of the physical Dpad. The physical dpad feels horrible when your thumb is not directly in the concave section of the pad. I have callouses on my thumbs already from playing fighting games and it was tearing my skin on the edges. After sanding down the dpad edges and corners to my liking using 400 grit sandpaper, I sprayed a clear coat over it. Afterwards, it is literally the best dpad I’ve ever used. For people not willing to crack open the controller to do this, it is a HUGE con. No L3 R3 switch. In the Playstation 4 Version of the fighting commander you were able to hit a switch that will change your bumpers to be used for L3/R3, L1/L2 and R1/R2 etc but now you are no longer able to do that. I wish that feature was available. Summary: This is a great controller and I strongly recommend it. The feel of the dpad is a huge con for me but after sanding it down to my liking it feels great. It would be cool if Hori offered different dpad options. Great product!
